Interesting that Jillian Michaels, famous for her participation in the notorious Biggest Loser debacle, in now on the IF train with us whackos 🙂 . She doesn't actually say IF of course, but she strongly recommends a popular IF regimen-- ie 16:8. ie Eat during an 8 hour window, don't eat anything for 16.
3 main meals 4 hours apart with one snack squeezed in eg:
0900h, 1300h, snack, 1700h then zero for 16 hours. The 8 hour window can be shifted.

Has Jillian lost her marbles by going IF, or is she onto something 'new'? 😉

I don't know that I would call that "Intermittent Fasting", since that is pretty much the normal eating schedule for most peope - with slightly different hours. I eat Break-Fast at 8:00am, Lunch at 1:00pm, and Dinner at 6:00pm. I eat a snack mid-afternoon after exercise. That has been pretty much my schedule since I was a young lad growing up on the farm.

IF people have been promoting 16:8 for ages. You may not call it IF, but IF people do 🙂 It really is nothing more than the common-sense eating people did for ages before the 'eat all the time' idiocy started (hence the 'onto something new' joke).
ETA..you honestly believe 16 hour fasting every 24 hours is the 'normal eating schedule for most people'?? 3 squares plus a snack in an 8-hour window? Most sensible people maybe, but no way in the world are obese people routinely eating on this schedule. Too many people eat and graze constantly from the moment they wake up until the moment they go to bed. Some even sneak for a quickie in the middle of the night.
BTW congrats on your eating schedule..I agree with you and Jillian that it is a good plan. R

I can't do it. I get up too early to go to work, and I exercise after work for a couple of hours. So I don't eat dinner until 8 or 9 pm at night.
On the plus side, when I used to eat that late, I would get sick at night. That problem is gone.

So, the non-IF people like me, have been doing the same thing for centuries, but just called it Life. Now, the IF people have attached a new name to it, "IF", and they continue with Life as has been going on for centuries... I think I'm catching on now....as Bon Jovi said in his song:
"The more things change the more they stay the same
The same sunrise, it's just another day
If you hang in long enough they say you're comin' back
Just take a look, we're living proof and baby that's a fact
You know the more things change the more they stay the same
The more things change the more they stay the same"

You are absolutely correct Larry, except the 'IF' people aren't pretending that it's 'new'. They've been begging people to eat like it's 1950 from the beginning. Believe it or not, you sound like an IF poster-child 😄 Glad you are eating healthy, regardless of the label...Think going 'retro' will catch on? I hope it does 🙂 R

I do kindof a half and half approach.
I work 10 hour days Monday thru Thursday, so my meals are much more spread out. Out of bed at 4:30am, workout, breakfast around 5:30, then off to work. Morning snack around 8:30 or 9am. Lunch between 11 and 11:30. Afternoon snack around 2 or 2:30. Back home around 5:30, workout again, dinner around 7pm or so.
The other 3 days, however, are closer together. For one thing, I don't get up at 4:30am on my days off lol. Otherwise, even when I do get up, I'll generally just relax with a cup or two of coffee before a workout, then maybe have a light breakfast/brunch around 10am. Late lunch around 1 or 2, then dinner around 6pm.

I really like IF, I am in my 15th week of Low Carb Hi Fat and frequently did not eat breakfast at all, just two mains at noon and 6pm, but since going to gym twice a week they advised me to take the eggs out of my mains and eat them in the morning, same daily calories, but I do get better results at gym but not on the scales, I still prefer my 18/6 way of eating.
