Welcome one and all to our next challenge for better health and weight loss or maintenence.
We gather here to support each other, cheering and empathizing with the process of life style
change to improve our health and quality of life.
Set reasonable goals so you can feel success.
USW= heaviest weight when you began to lose
SW=starting weight
CW=current weight
GW=goal weight for Labor Day
UGW = Ultimate goal weight - long term healthy weight goal
Some people include their BMI = Body Mass Index, and some add their height as well.
You can stop by once a week and post your progress or every day to get and give ideas and support.
Most people track their food intake as well as steps to make sure you burn at least 500 to 750 more calories than you consume. Remember eat healthy food and portions in a way that you can maintain.
We can do this together. We have seen great progress over the last 7 challenges.
Welcome.

@DJC_63 I am in the same boat. I've really worked hard this week with exercise, etc. I have a scale (not always accurate) that tracks muscle, etc. I'm apparently doing better by those measures, but the weight ticked up to 190. I know from history, that an event like this is usually followed by a drop. So once again we have to remind ourselves that we are trying to get healthy and we are succeeding.

I think you should call customer support and tell them - this is too much.
I know how you feel about the slow weight loss. It took me 4 months to lose 3 pounds. (not that I was doing it perfectly, but still) At that rate I figure I'll be about 102 by the time I'm a healthy weight! So, when is your doctor appointment?
Affectionately,
the Nag

@khreed Good point, that I sometimes forget. That scale number gets too much power. And it is a biological process, not mechanical. Our weight reflects water retention, muscles growing, etc. And this really is about getting healthier. If we eat well, are active enough, get stronger,...eventually we will weigh what we should weigh. (Just have days when I wish it would hurry up already!)

Looks like I missed posting here last week! But that's ok as I had gained again.
Here is today:
USW= 215
SW= 214.8
LW= 213.6 (Last weigh-in weight)
CW= 211.8
GW= 207.0
UGW = 140.0
Just an update about me: I made it an entire month with no fast food. I am a fast food addict so this is a big deal. I have decided that for September I am going to work on drinking 1/2 oz. of water for every pound I weigh as my hydration has been lacking. As my weigh-in indicates, no fast food and higher water intake help the weight go down. In just two days of better hydration I am sleeping better and have a bit more energy and I'm not craving a burger for lunch.

How fabulous that you beat your goal by 3 lbs. I'm so happy for you. See you in a few days in the new Halloween Challenge. My Charge HR has recently broken at the charging area so I won't be able to keep the step tracking going unless I can glue back the metal piece. I called and the company doesn't have parts to replace it they said. The incredibly good news is that they are replacing the Charge HR with a new one in spite of me being out of warranty for 7 months. Wow that was generous and wonderful so in 2-3 weeks I should have a working fitbit again.
Best to all,
Barbara

Hi and huge congrats on selling the old and buying your new home. How exciting and to fix it up a bit as well. It seems that "busting your butt" worked well as you are in the 150s. So congrats about that, too.
See you in the Halloween Challenge
Best,
Barbara

Nice going to survive NYC and not gain an ounce. Enjoy your holiday and hopefully you can keep walking as that seems to work.
I've been MIA recently as I'm repairing the side of my house due to water damage. In fact, I'm going outside to paint some long siding so we can install them in the morning. Then I get to scrub some plywood up a tall 16' ladder since it has some mildew on it.Moving that bloody ladder is the hard part. Tomorrow my helper comes in the morning and we barrier wrap it and then cut and fit the siding. I would like it better if it wasn't on the second floor.
Okay, hope that your holiday is going well.
Best,
Barbara G

Hi @Bobbinyc, my favorite nag. My cardiologist appointment is Oct. 11th. I'm really going to try to get my bloodwork done this week to test for glucose levels. I figure if it is diabetes I need to know. No more sticking my head in the sand.

My last weigh in here. My weekly average has gone up a bit but daily I'm creeping back down like 2 ounces each day. I can see the weight loss in how clothes fit, though, so that keeps me motivated. Also today is the 3 year anniversary of my Dad's death. I was never able to have a last talk with him or say goodbye, as he was sedated when I got to the hospital (so that he could be intubated), and once they stopped the sedation he never woke up. But I know what he would want for me, and part of that would be to be healthy. He had several heart surgeries and he always wanted me to get tested and know my numbers for cholesterol, etc. I know wherever he is that he is happy that I'm losing weight. I try to honor his memory by living the best life I can.
The final for this challenge:

@DJC_63 As I've said before, we are so close in both weight, goals, and struggles. Our main goal has to be "keep on goin'on." It's so easy when we seem to plateau for no reason. That's why I love this group. There are days I think I'd give up without the support of this group. I know your Dad would be proud.

I'm going to end my this challenge today instead of tomorrow. I'll start the Halloween one tomorrow either before or after I see my cardiologist. I guess it's time to tell him about my aches and pains like the surgeon told me to do. She said it could be my heart causing me pain on top of whatever is preventing me from swallowing my food. Now THAT is painful. So we'll see what he says tomorrow.

Well, I was close but didn't quite make my goal for Labor Day. I cheated a little too much and didn't lose as much as I should have last week. Here are my final results:

CW=206
GW=205
UGW = 177
Missed it by 1 pound 😞

@dbalge That was a lot of weight to lose quickly. One pound is nothing - it doesn't change your health. Join us in the Labor Day to Halloween 2016 Challenge.
