Just got Charge HR2, trying to make sense of the calorie in/out breakdown

I just got the fitbit charge HR 2. I like it a lot.

I eat 1,640 Calories / Day so I could lose 1.5-2 lbs a week according to MyFitnessPal.

According to Fitbit which I first used today, I burned 3,912 calories (Guessing it's what I've burnt today+BMR). On the app it says I have 3198 calories left in my budget.

So my question is, after eating my 1640 calories that MFP recommended, does it mean I can eat another 1558 calories? (3198-1640)?

@PascalS- the quick answer is yes, but the longer answer is no.  There is going to be some inconsistency in calories burned (it's an average of all people).  There will also be some inconsistency in calories in.  I'd do an actual number somewhere in between.  If you have a lot to lose I'd probably eat a little more than if you are closer to your goal weight.

I burn between 3000-4000 (sometime even higher lately).  I eat 1000 calories less than I burn, up to 2500.  So on a day I burn 3000 only eat 2000.  On a day I burn more than 3500 calories I stop at 2500.  This has given me fairly consistent weight loss (over 90 pounds since Feb), although I make a lot of food from scratch and I weigh and measure fairly carefully.

Full disclosure - I'm taking a break from calorie counting at the moment and have given into the Christmas food going around.  Next week I'll go back to calorie counting and make up for the damage.  Woman Tongue
