Labour Day to Halloween 2015 Challenge

Hi everybody! This is a group with awesome people and we all have the same goals! We may have different ways to get there, so please keep the thread friendly so we can all enjoy the journey!

 

We are starting on Labour Day - September 4 and will be ending this challenge on Halloween October 31. 

 

I know you will all give your best - just remember: keep your goals achievable and HAVE FUN!!!

Thanks so much for the ground rules!  As a newbie to challenges, I wasn't sure if we were supposed to just sign up and then report at the end, or if we were going to do entries and help along the way.  I'm VERY pleased to hear that it's the latter.  I signed up when I first read about this two days ago, and with the holiday, I've slipped a little, but the Challenge is helping me to keep my eye on the goal.  And it's also truly helpful and encouraging to see so many people with stats like mine, and some of them a lot further along!  My mantra since I started this healthier lifestyle in late April of this year is a big YES to everything that helps me along toward better health and nor more "no" to anything.  I CAN eat good food.  I CAN exercise in enjoyable ways (yes, hard too).  I CAN look good along the way.  So, here's a big YES! to this Challenge and a bigger THANKS!!!

Hi All,

Would love to join this challenge (my first). I just got my fitbit in early August and it really has kept me aware of what I had and had not been doing with relation to my eating and daily activity. So here are my numbers:

8/8/15 - USW - 206.8

9/7/15 - CSW - 198.8

10/31/15 - Goal - 192.8

 

I am being very conservative and realistic as I will be away on vacation from 10/5-10/17 including a one week cruise and we all know what that can do to your good intentions! So good luck to all!

well,  I will be gone on vacation for 12 days from the 12 to the 24th but I'm in 🙂

So since this is for Halloween, a Holiday I love, Im also going to set a costume goal. I'm tired of having to "cover up" -pumpkin costumes anyone? SO my other goal is costume related, I want to wear a belly dance or harem type costume. Basically, something that isn't ROUND or BAGGY. LOL I'm lookin for kind of hot this year, instead of "cute" 😉

Costume goals? wow. never even thought of that.

Start weight: 260 in June 2015
Current weight: 225.5 (9/7/15)
Goal by 10/31/15: 200
Ultimate goal: 140 by April 2016

Here we go 🙂 200 is my halfway point. 200 is a weight where I feel comfortable doing a lot of things that I love doing... I still try to do them now, but I get discouraged by my unacceptable performance...its hard to pull my weight up a rock climbing wall right now.. It's hard to mountain bike effectively because my body gets in my way... It's hard to fit in my kayak..... But at 200 I can do all of these things at a level that I find enjoyable. I need to get there by the end of October to help keep my motivation through winter.

If Halloween was a bigger deal here in the UK my costume goal would be Scarlet Witch from the Avengers for sure! Such a cool outfit & the witch part of the name is fitting for the occasion.

Welcome all the wonderful folks from the last challenge and a huge welcome to the new challengers,

Come and post your struggles and successes, ideas and questions. Doing this together is so much better than isolation. We are a supportive group, full of good ideas, motivation and human foillables, too. I missed my 135 Labor Day goal by 2.7 so I'm still at it.

Starting weight Jan.27 was 153

current weight in 137.7 

goal weight is 134 or 135 by Halloween and then maintain that weight forever. 

So 3-4 last few lbs to go. I saw 136.1 twice on the scale so I know it is around the corner for next week. 

I like Bobbinyc's reminder to set realistic goals so we can meet them. It is a healthy diet for life that we

need to avoid the chronic illness that are self inflicted. 

 

I'm rooting for you to kick the fake plastic refined carbs and sugary food to the curb! 

Non-starchy veggies, fruit and nuts are my favorites. 

Most of us have to watch portion size even when we choose healthy foods like nuts and fruit. 

Together we can make a healthy difference.

Join us then. We are supportive so if you think that you can average 1 lb loss each week then decide to lose that in 7 weeks by Halloween. Day by day and week by week we are moving toward our goals.Come back everyday or 2 and read and share the journey.

I would love to join in.  Four years ago I lost 90 pounds and I gained back 25 over that period.  I have lost a bit but need the boost to get the rest of it off.  So count me in.  My stats are:  SW - 241

Hello

This is my first challenge.  My sedentary lifestyle has caused me to again 20 pounds over the past four years.  I am working to become more active.  The fitbit has really helped because it shows me when I need to move more.

 

I started in June.  My weight was 180.

My current weight is 179.

My goal weight is 150.

 

I hope the challenge will hold me accountable and force me to become more active

 

I look forward to seeing how much healthier I become between now and Halloween.
