Deb
Thanks for the good wishes and support. It was not a competition actually but a student showcase so the only pressure from inside me was to dance my best. Someone did video the dancing on his phone but I will find out if he can upload it as it an older model of some sort. I'm going to watch it sometime today as he is a boyfriend of my tenant next door.
Isn't it neat that we can break patterns and let go of pieces of identity like obese or overweight decades after childhood's end. Just old ideas about ourselves that we have the power to change.
All the very best,
Barbara G

If any one is interested in a short look at a Viennese Waltz from a student showcase that I did here it is. Hopefully they will attach right now. It shows me at just 1.8 lbs from my goal weight.
Happy Day to you all.

Okay here is the short Foxtrot clip but sorry for the video quality as it turns to the side view. Oh well this is how I get steps in but took the fitbit off as it looked weird tied to my ankle ;-).
Thanks for all your support and encouragement.

@dancefoxtrot oh my Barbara. I watched the waltz video and you look just amazing - the picture of elegance and grace. And confidence. I couldn't get the foxtrot - it said "no video available". But seeing the waltz is such a treat. Thank you so much for sharing that.

Hi all you challengers out there. I'm curious about something. I am increasing my activity level, now being fully recovered from a bad foot injury. I couldn't move at all for awhile and gained a shocking amount of weight, though I didn't think I had been that active at the time. So, I'm very careful about food, more active and lost some weight but it's time to kick it up a bit. Or a lot.
A physician friend of mine, with no weight issues, told me that she used to run 3 miles daily. After she turned 45 she had to run 5 miles daily to just keep the weight the same. The only thing I ran passed is age 45!
I'd love to get some ideas. I know some of you are doing yoga, some dancing, etc. I guess I thought it might be inspiring to hear about the details. I think I underestimate how much is necessary. I also want to do strength, aerobics, balance and flexibility and have some fun at it, without it taking up my whole day. So...if you don't mind sharing..what does your activity level look like each week? And is that working for you?

Jenna
You are doing great. Nice to have lots to wear as well. How tall are you? I'm 5'7" and just finally hit 134.9 today. I'm aiming for 134 on Halloween but I may see if 132 might be better if the lower belly weight leaves.

Wow Vinny
You are killing those fat cells, just squishing them flat. 4 lbs is alot.
Just let us know if you change your name so we will know it is you.
Keep up the excellent progress.

Hi Bobbinyc,
Crazy links. I just click on the foxtrot link and it worked again minutes ago.
Anyway, I think Zumba burns calories well and some strength training and yoga stretches will balance it out. By yoga I mean the easier poses not the one where you are tied up in knots. Always wise to stretch after walking, hiking, dancing or weight lifting. They, the health experts that I like, say that it is best not to exercise for an hour then sit the rest of the day. The cardio kicks up the metabolism so even short bursts of HIIT help. Walking after meals burns some cals so they don't get stored. I also think that eating much within a few ours of bedtime leaves the calories to be stored. Generally being active most of the day is the key I think. I'm so glad that you foot has healed. I agree that we don't need to spend the whole day exercising. Are you working at a desk job?
I think that the healthy lower carb and sugar diet helps a lot. I really can't eat much other than veggies galore, some beans, hummus, guacomole, nuts, a little fruit, salmon, greek yogurt and berries. I don't really miss the pastas and pizzas and cheese cake and sour dough bread anymore. Once in a while like 1 time a month, I have my son's pasta with chicken or pizza thin crust at his house since he is the chef.
Is your thyroid back in balance now?
I am rooting for you to bounce that trampoline scale lower.
All the very best to you in NYC,
Barbara G
