Hi - Time for an update. I feel like I am back on track. Getting my steps in every day. Weight loss is slow, but its going. I am hoping to keep up my momentum when the time changes. Six pounds before Halloween will be tuff, but I'm still motivated. Good luck everyone. Laura

Thank you so much for the support and advice. You just reminded me that to be a happy & healthy mom, I gotta take care of myself too. I have been focusing on the stress and the problems and what is best for the kids.....not even realizing that being in a home without fighting and hate with parents who stay together, is a million times worse than being in two separate homes with happy parents.

I am new to fitbit and have start from this Monday 9/28, I did 10,000 steps so far per day. I was reading this Halloween 2015 Challenge, very inspiring.

Starting weight 150 (Sept 28 2015)
Goal weight for Halloween 142 [loose 2 pounds per week]
My Final goal is 130 (by new year 2016)

I have 2 boys 5 and 2 years. I am only 5'2. My main concern is my weight around by waist. Very hard to loose, I am doing my 10,000 steps per day but I should do some yoga or abs exercises. Any suggestions.

Very excited to join the Group - Haritha

Checking in, I did great on my diet the during the week and then I went to a wedding on Friday and this weekend just went downhill from there. I'm back on track now and I'm happy to say that even with the detour I still lost a pound. I've continued my running and I'm on week 6 in couch 2 5k now! 🙂 It's really helped me to get out there and run/walk after sitting at my desk at home all day. Because once I'm done with the run I can just walk around the track a few more times and get more steps in. I'm not sure that I can make it to 165 in a month, but I'll try and get as close as I can.

Check in 259.8 today. I feel as though I have been all over the place this month. I over ate, over thought and allowed myself to become bogged down. Back on track and feeling good. Hoping to be in 240's at least by Halloween. Hope everyone else is doing welll.

I'm 5'3 & 200 pounds.

I also have a 6 year old and 2 year old (boy & girl). I carry alot of weight around my waist as well. I do flutter kicks, abdominal twists with a medicine ball, and crunches. But I also do step classes (such as Les Mills Bodystep). All the movements, jogging, lunging, and high kicks will work your abs. Plus it's a really fun class and keeps you motivated. I started out at 235 back in June and i'm already down 35 pounds, the majority of my workouts are running/cardio.

Absolutely! I think it's something I will remind myself when I have a week without any progress. Sometimes our bodies just don't respond the way we expect - sometimes better and sometimes worse - so there is no need to get discouraged.

I have also had days and weeks where I did everything right and the scale didn't budge . . . until the following day/week, etc.  But for me this past week has been a holding pattern that I expected and just didn't fight.  I put off entering numbers thinking things (read my efforts) would change.

I've been a slug since I did my BIG HIKE, and I think that's healthy.  Recovery from a major effort is normal, so I've been doing easy walks and for shorter periods of time.  Should be back to normal exercise next week ( I hope).  In the meantime, I've held firm on the dial -- no change in weight.  Oh well.  Some days chicken, some days feathers (as an old farmer friend of mine says).

I have enjoyed reading this conversation about the frustration that sometimes happens when we work hard and the scale does not move.  That is soooooo hard.  In the past I have given up when that has happened to me.  It is hard to remember that if we eat right and exercise we will eventually get where we want to be.  Just not always on our timeline.  I need to learn how to be more patient with myself sometimes.

I have had a good week this week.  I am so glad for the weekend to be here!!!  Today I don't have any workouts to do and I feel like I need the bit of rest.  Tomorrow I am going to go run on the beach and maybe play some tennis.  Have a great weekend everyone.

I know I checked in Monday but I had a very productive week at the gym and have been working so hard with staying on track. Finally my husband and I sat down, had a long talk and we are going to dig our heels in and fight for our marriage. We both love each other and realize our faults.

On another exciting note, I'm at 199!!!! I cannot believe I am here, I haven't been under 200 pounds since before my kids were born. Talking at least 6 years!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you all for being a ear to listen & a arm to push & motivate!

@awood08 Hoorah!  So good to read your excellent news!  I can almost feel the hundred pounds of worry lifted off your shoulders.  Not that you don't have a difficult road ahead, but this step is HUGE!

And I am inspired by your weight loss.  I've been looking at that 199 number for months--to just break the 200 barrier--and seeing you cross that line is an incentive to dig MY heels in and work just a little harder and eat just a little less to make it happen.  Buy or make yourself a Congratulations! card.  You've earned a big pat on the back!

So big kudos to you (and your husband) for doing everything you can for the health of your marriage.  And to you for doing everything you can for your OWN health!

Last Saturday was sad scale day... back up to 139 (up 1 lb from previous week). Hope to do better during tomorrow's weigh in; I was a more responsible eater this past week. It's so hard to make good choices sometimes!

Thank you so much @JacquelineP 🙂

I hope you keep reaching your goal! I've been lucky so far so I can imagine my weight loss progress will slow eventually. I cut out extra carbs and added in more all natural veggies (fresh organic spinach & tomatoes are just some) and I think that helped alot!

@dancefoxtrot Barb thank you! By far seeing your success and your determination has been a huge motivation for me each week. You are the best 🙂

Don't be discouraged! My first cheat meal after loosing my first 15 pounds I gained 2 lbs and it took me a week to get it off. Almost every week i'm down 2-3 pounds and gain one back. You will keep loosing, you will meet your goals, You got this!! 🙂
