Hey my supportive friends,
The scale was friendly this morning and registered a 136.9 which is just 7/10 of a lb. higher than my losest weight in 10 years. Woo hoo.
Today nothing to eat until 1:30 PM as I will have the second cataract removed and replaced with a nice clear lens. Surgery in April went fine so I'm hoping for the same results.
Won't be dancing very much today though.
Sounds like realistic goals are being set. We absolutely can shake the sugar and carb addictions and get healthier.
Enjoy the journey everyone.
Best,
Barbara G

I have been cleaning up my diet recently and am optimistic about my goal, although if anyone has recovery tips for foot injuries or good alternative excersises to build up arch/ankle strength I would love to hear them. Spending alot more time at the swimming pool since my foot injury.
USW = 375 lb ( Jan. 20, 2014)
CSW = 291 lb

Welcome @CrisW !!
I am sure we can help you get motivated and down to your next goal!
Have you been using the fitbit just for step counting or are you also logging your foods?
Did you know that - scientifically proven - people who keep food diaries on a regular basis (6-7 days a week) lose TWICE as much weight as people who only write down sporadically (1-2 days per week) what they eat?
That always goes through MY mind when I have forgotten to log my food throughout a day! LOL
Cheers
Birgit

Hi, CrisW! I think I'm older than you, but our stats and the trip focus are similar. I'm getting ready for a trip to Disney World with my youngest daughter, her husband and their two kiddos, leaving from Colorado for Florida on Oct. 22nd. My current weight is 204, and I'm really hoping to be at 195 when I leave for the trip. I use MyFitnessPal for calorie counting and I've been slipplng lately. I started off pretty well in May, and I've lost 18 pounds so far, but I really need to get focused. It doesn't take much slipping to stop good progress for me, it seems. So, I got the fitbit about a month ago (and I was shocked and embarrassed by how LITTLE I actually move). Now I'm doing extra walking and some stationary bike high intensity intervals 2xweek to get ready for a LOT of walking. I'm going to really try hard to eat only my MFP base amount EVERY day and to be sure to complete each day's steps. This Challenge will be a great help along the way. I'd love to hear what your strategies for getting ready? Good luck to you (and me) and all the good people here trying to be the best they can!!!!

Thanks, as always for the support and encouragement. And no, there are no pictures of me belly dancing-it was just for the fun and exercise.

Welcom Xakka. I am, sadly, a new expert on foot injuries. I tore my achilles and my plantar fascia and it took me over a year to be able to walk again. (I did a really good job) Those tendons are delicate and easily reinjured. Since they are so small, and have limited blood supply, they get scar tissue easily, and then don't reattach the right way. If you can manage it, I would see a physical therapist. They can help now and show you how to prevent future injuries. Also using inserts in your shoes can help. I had to experiment with several kinds and kept changing them out as I healed, starting with cushioning and moving toward more support and control. I also couldn't wear shoes, especially with a back on them. Wore soft clogs. You need to learn when to warm it and when to ice it, and you should not take advice on exercises. Sorry, especially since I know so many. But it depends on the exact nature of your injury and the strengths and weaknesses of your whole foot and leg. ie, I had to do stretches for my calf and hamstring because that had pulled too much on my foot. Who knew? A physical therapist could help with that, if you find a smart one. Good luck with it.

I'd love to join this challenge. I've never done one before, and I definitely could use the accountability. Feel free to add me as a friend as well. I've been doing the couch to 5k program to get into running and I'm on week 4 now. I'm also walking a lot more and will start the old school Power 90 tapes today.
