Looking 2 share support, motivation, and friendly competition

Hi,

I am interested in connecting with individuals who are looking to shed some lbs and have their fit bits and looking for some friendly competition but more importantly motivation to get at least 10K steps in everyday. I sometimes have a difficult time doing with since I have a full time desk job. I wear my fit bit faithfully and looking for people who are as dedicated to this process as myself. I can offer the same support in return! 🙂

Smiley Very Happy I also count calories for the dietary side of it and interested in receipe swapping of healthy lifestyles. 🙂

Hi, Im new, do you know why my steps on my fitbit and the ones on computer screen dont match?  Ive asked this question in help forums, but just get "No Matches" for reply.  How or where would I find the answer to that.  thanks  and good luck

Hi!!  I'm looking for some friends to help motivate me! I'm new to fitbit, less than a week at this point, and would love any sort of competition/motivation/support. I'm a teacher and spend a lot of time on my feet so I am exhausted when I get home and struggle to exercise in the evenings, but found during the last few days that it is much harder to hit my goal of 10,000 steps a day than I thought!  I do have to say the fitbit has made me get up and start moving around more in the evenings because I want that goal! 🙂

I also am looking to share some healthy recipes! I try to eat healthy but get bored with the same recipes over and over.

Tonight for dinner we made Spaghetti using:

1 Spaghetti Squash (squash, not actual spaghetti)

1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce

1 lb ground turkey meat

Turned out great and my picky husband, my sister and niece all enjoyed it. And said ti tasted almost like eating real spaghetti (only with SIGNIFICANTLY less calories). If you want a specific recipe let me know but it's really easy!

Hi!!! I totally agree those 10K goals can be a
struggle but this fit bit is awesome for getting you moving and being
aware. I feel lost without it now. *lol* I have a desk job so most of my
hours are in front of a computer and on the telephone. Now I utilize both
of my breaks and my lunch break to walk. Then in the evening I try to get
in a walk on the treadmill if it gets to dark to walk my neighborhood.

The eating is the second but probably bigger challenge for me. So I got the
fitness pal app on my phone and its been working out great. I try to stay
within 1200-1500 cals a day now. Which is a lot easier when I do all my
cooking at home and we don't eat out. I feel better with clean eating too.
I have cut out a lot of carbs.

Your dinner sounds yummy, I made the squash spagehetti when I was on the
South Beach diet years ago. It is delish! Thanks for the reminder of it. I
will have to make it for the family. I made a yummy desert last night, our
youngest wasn't a huge fan but me and the hubby liked it and it def
satisfied the sweet tooth. I browned banana chunks for 2 mins on each side
with little EVOO then while that was cooking I whisked honey and water
together after the "nanas" were browned I turned off the heat poured the
honey and water mixture over it and then let it cool a bit and sprinkled
some cinnamon on them.

Hi Giglet,

I have no idea why they don't match. If you sync'd it, I would think it should! But I don't have the fit bit that shows my steps on the device itself I have the flex band. So I can only see my steps on the computer or my phone when I sync my device with my phone via bluetooth.

Sorry I can't be more help with your issue.

Are the steps on your dashboard lower than on your tracker? It's possible that the tracker didn't sync'ed yet to the account so the latest information isn't reflected on the dashboard / account yet.

The tracker sync's every 15 - 20 minutes automaticly when being within range of the computer. It's also possible to do a force sync with the fitbit connect software that has been downloaded / installed on the computer.

In the system tray of the pc there's a fitbit icon, right click onto to display a menu which shows the 'sync now' option.

That is the very first time I have heard of the bananas done this way, sounds awesome. I am 58 and been on weight watchers, Atkins, and my own plans. I am now doing a smart old fashioned tried n true method , and that is two things, I watch every calorie and I wear the fitbit flex daily and in fact 24 hrs daily. I found that 10k was a bit too much to attempt , foer me, so I cut it back to 7000 steps, and I am much happier. Good luck and keep the tips coming.

Hi! 🙂

It was really delish! I actually found the idea on "heathier" desert ideas section of pinterest. Love that website for all kinds of good craft ideas for the family and especially the kids.....but of course I check out the and delish receipes idea for any kind of diet.

I too have been on WW and all kinds of other weight loss plans and like you have found doing it the "old fashioned" way really is the way to go and saves a bunch of money too. Kind of funny in the scheme of things when I look at all the $$ I have spent on different methods.

I think you are very smart to listen to your body to decide what is best for your needs. If 7K is an increase from what you have done and you feel good def keep on with what works for you and your body. Everyone is so different. Good luck to you too!!! 😉

I've had a fitbit for a long time but just in the last month have I been really trying for the 10,000 steps again and logging food via MFP.  I don't make the 10,000 every day with a desk job and lots of Mommy chauffeur duties but many days I do.  Walking at lunch and trying to walk while kiddos are in activities.  On Bootcamp days I don't usually hit 10,000.  It's a strenuous workout that doesn't add a ton of steps but it makes me tired enough.....

I'm just so glad that I'm out of my slump of just lazily glancing at the low number of steps and waving it off and that I'm getting back to letting this great tool motivate me.

AMS717 - I also use myfitnesspal for calorie counting. I've used it in the past and had great success. I'm having a harder time this time around with weight loss primarily because my job provides free breakfast and lunch and even though they aren't necessarily unhealthy, they aren't as healthy, low cal, and small portions as the food I bring myself. I am about to start bringing my own lunches again, I just like the cost effectiveness of not paying for food (and the ease of not making lunch!)

Hi, I'm a computer programmer so I have a very very sedentary job. Since I got my charge HR and have been able to track my movement , I have slowly and gradually increased my activity levels day by day, just taking extra walks around the office whenever I have the chance, going for long walks to get lunch, getting off 3-4 km further away from my house and walking back after work. I am now consistently doing 15k steps a day on average and feel great. Still have a looong ways to go to reach my weightloss goal since i'm not really on a diet, but slow and steady wins the race! Add me if you want to do challenges and compete!
