When I first had my Fitbit connected with MFP I lost 5 kg and since then I've been stranded around 78kg. Recently because diabetes is hovering to get me on meds, I am fighting back to give the diagnose a run to the other side of being healthy and free. By coincidence, I stumbled across the ketogenic diet after reading and research in order to change lifestyle and make it happen. I honestly thought it would take some time but I surprised myself (or better my body and brain did), lost 2.6kg within 3-4 weeks weighing 75.4kg. I honestly have to admit I struggled last week choosing/making the wrong food items and thereby crashing my maximum carb intake
Basically ketogenic is Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) and I have set myself up for 30 carbs daily intake, without knowledge of keto food list and/or meal plan you easily overreach daily limit. To earn carbs you have to up your fitness level being more active and getting your body to reach ketosis. "The aim of the diet is to try and burn off unwanted fat by forcing the body to rely on burning fat for energy, rather than carbohydrates". It works, my BMI and body fat level started to drop down and not just lost of water percentage.
This is just the very beginning till the end of the year, must get through the first three months to stay on track and make MFP prediction happen to weigh under 70kg in 5 weeks
Buddy support would help to follow through and exchange tips, add me if you like.

Hannah how is your weight doing?
Your steps are going well I have seen in our challenges 🙂
Hi Alexandra welcome and hope you enjoy your first challenge today.
H Asianfoodtrail, long story with a lot of words. But I think I'm basicly doing the same.
Eating 500 less then I need a day, less carbs and more protein 🙂

In short, nope it is not. Sorry to be a bit wordy didn't want to assume common knowledge, just a means for motivation introducing a working tool I practice in weight loss. The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. It does focus on carbs and proteins but your "fat" intake here aids in your weight loss. With the help of a Keto calculator, your body fat percentage and knowing your macronutrients. This is important because the macro calculator uses your lean weight (total weight minus body fat) to calculate the macronutrients you need on a daily basis. For example my daily intake based on macronutrients percentage is 10% carb (30gram!) 30% protein 60% fat. The impact is to achieve optimal ketosis, where the body will start breaking down own body fat to fuel the body's normal, everyday functions.
