You burn calories doing everything.
Sleeping in bed you burn calories.
Sitting at desk burns more calories than lying down.
Setting at desk turning a foot pedaling contraption burns more calories than just sitting at a desk. How much effort it is, resistance, plays into how much more.
Walking would likely burn more than that.
Running would burn more than walking.
Burning extra calories means you could eat more and that may just be what's needed to adhere to a diet.
Rather eat 1500 and burn 2000 being sedentary, or eat 1700 and burn 2200 being more active - that extra 200 calories eaten may just be what's needed to make a dinner feel big enough, or add a nice dessert, ect.
1 lb loss weekly in both cases.
Plus a little bit of extra heart health maybe improved.
