Losing Weight While Working at a Car Dealership

When I started working at the car dealership 5 years ago I weighed 185lbs., which was still overweight for my height 5'5", but still pretty healthy.  I noticed that most of the guys were pretty fat! I said to myself that I would never get like that!.  Here I am 5 years later 205 lbs and I find myself joking with newbies that soon they will be where I am.  I've gotten to the point where I've become so lazy as a manager, that I send my sales reps to pick up my unhealthy food. Those in the car industry understand my pain.  That's why I'm starting this discussion on how we can break the cycle.  We have our fitbit.  Now what are you going to do?

Welcome!

Start eating healthy. Bring your lunch in as well as some snacks.

Stay away from Processed food as it contains a lot of sodium.

Eat lots of fruits, vegetables. Add in protein, carbs and fats as well. We do need it in our diet. Olive oil, nuts, avocado are some good ones. Also some dairy. Mostly fill your plate with fruits and veggies and small portions of carbs and protein.

Get some exercise in Cardio and Weights. You don't have to join a gym a lot is available on YouTube you will need some weights

When starting to eat healthier over time, our bodies want more of the nutritient rich foods which keep satisified for longer while providing most of the nutritients our bodies require, our bodies not being hungry for more (eating less unnecessary 'calories' overall but providing our body with what it needs).

There can be cravings for having a piece of cake, some chocolat,.. when eating healthier overall, it's okay to have some of the processed foods as well, have with care in moderation to prevent binge eating.. not restricting foods, otherwise eating more from at the next chance..

The best foods are foods provided by nature as minimal as processed as possible (fruits, fresh vegetables, meat, eggs,..)..

Processed foods can also be 'trigger' foods, be aware about when not really being hungry but allowing to have some chocolat for example (just for the taste..) can lead to eating more because of the taste.. then possible eating other foods to.. because it tastes so good but not being actually hungry..

Try having what your body is asking for (it's trying to tell which nutritients it needs from available foods and how much)..

When eating, what looks the most appealing to have?

For example at dinner there can be foods available:

  • Eggs;
  • Potatoes;
  • Meat;
  • Green Beans;

The eggs may not look appealing to have, but your body telling to have more potatoes / meat / green beans instead..

Or the eggs look more appealing, wanting a few instead, with more vegetables and a piece of meat, or being more hungry, and wanting to have a bit more meat, or more of the vegetables..

It's possible to use a food plan, try listening to your body when being hungry / feeling satisfied not stuffed / having enough.. what it wants, when it wants, when having enough..

It's nearly impossible to overeat when basing portions on hunger, eating healthier foods overall (stop eating more when feeling satisfied / not hungry)..

Enjoy
