Losing weight for Bariatric surgery

i'm going to be having bariatric surgery soon (gastric sleeve) and I needed to lose 15 pounds first. Thanks to my fitbit i've lost most of it!  This little thing is addictive!  Any one else using it to prep for surgery?

Mine came after the surgery. i had diverticulitis and had to have about 8 inches of my colon removed using robotic surgery. I was at least 75 lbs. over weight, but had to have the surgery in a hurry. The surgeon said it would be more risky due to my obesety, and strongly urged me to lose weight after the surgery. My first fitness tracker was a jawbone and I set it to lose 1 lb. per week. I followed what it told me and sure enough I lost about 1 lb. per week. I now have the fitbit Blaze, and it's been a little over a year and I have lost 57 lbs. I started power walking every day and biking some during the summer months, and i actaully eat more now than i used to and still lose weight because of all the calories i burn, and I feel much healthier too. My resting heart rate went from the 80's to the 60's and all my bloodwork comes back normal now.

Good job on your success and keep it going even after the surgery.

I didn't..I only got mine today..for Mother's Day! I have lost 85 lbs after having Gastric Sleeve surgery April 2015. I'm going to use the Fit bit to get the rest of the weight off. My 13 yr old daughter has one as well. We're going to take walks together on the weekend. I've had problems with mh knees (which MUCH improved with weight loss!) so that is how we will start out. After that I would like to join a gym. As for you..great job on the pre-surgery weight loss! It certainly wasn't easy for me (Gosh did I craave reall food..not the icky sweet protein drinks they had me on). Once you have the surgery..be patient. You WILL have some plateaus and early on - it is really very common and it will resolve..mine was 3 weeks..but you will then suddenly have a weight drop and begin losing reguarly. Don't be discouraged!. Follow your doctors instructions and...this is important because this is how I think people stop losing weight and stretch their stomach..stop eating when you are full and PUT THE FOOD AWAY...because as you sit there an digest..it's easy to eat the rest of your meal (imprtant for those of you who ea at your desk at work because you are so busy!). Good luck..you'll be happy with the results!

Thanks.  I've watched three people in my family have it, one was super successful, and one has had two different procedures, and the other is having his second procedure this week. I've been doing my homework and I don't plan to have it more than once.  This is my first ever operation so I don't want it to be for nothing

Well it sounds like you won't have any problem getting a little weight off before your surgery. Athough I had a longer time period before my surgery, using the Fitbit settings to help me track how many calories I burned throughout the day I helped me not only get down to the weight my insurance required but lose 4 times that amount.
