It's sooo quiet.

I've got more steps today than I have in a long while. That reminds me, I need to take ibuprofen before I go to bed and then again in the morning to ward off the stiffness and aches. Went walking with Mom at the river then went to assist my sister at one of the art nights she hosts. I was on my feet a lot there. Food was so-so, not great. I'm working on it.

I said I'd check in and I did! Next!

I'm here! Moving in the wrong direction, but here.

USW - 218.0

Current starting weight - 206.2 (5/12/19)

LW - 209.2

CW - 211.0

GW - 199.0 (7/4/19)

Stretch goal weight - 195.0

UGW - 150.0

Did a lot of walking this weekend but my eating was crap - fast food (with fries and soda) and late hours. Also some stress eating (cookies) due to house stuff and hubby health stuff.

Trying to get ready to go to Vegas at the end of next week for a long weekend with my sister and wanted to be waaaay down weight wise and instead I am waaaaay up from where I started - very disappointed in myself.

To do list:

No fast food - cook at home

Get to bed earlier

Drink more water - no soda

Get more steps

Find some quiet meditation time - de-stress

Now to do it.

Realized I didn't take my water pill a couple times during the week before the last weigh in, big difference when I take it every day (even remembered to take it this past weekend)!

I'm heading to Vegas with my sister on Thursday for 6 days. A bit excited but too much on my mind to be looking forward to it as much as I should. My youngest nephew and his family live there and we will be spending family time as well as site seeing. His youngest will be turning five while we are there so should be fun.

Hi all,

I't been a tough week health wise. First caught a stomach virus from a friend, then strep throat from a toddler I was watching for a day (he was so much fun though!). And while I still had a fever, had to prep for an endocopy, colon. I'm on antibiotics now and exhausted.  But sleeping better than usual!  Sadly, this weight loss doesn't count.

My energy has come back a bit and I did manage a walk yesterday. But I have three events involving food this weekend.  This will take some planning.

The activity that seems impossible today, will soon be your warm-up

@Cele21 Have a great time in Vegas.  How do you plan to manage weight there? Will you be active? Is there a way to manage food while there?

@dancefoxtrot  welcome back from Alaska! Can't wait to see the whale pictures.  You gave yourself two great presents - catching up on taxes before your trip, and that wonderful trip!

@SQUEAKY  It always shocks me how much harder it is to lose than gain.  And it gets harder every years.  Keep at it, you are doing great!

@_Lilac_  Hi!! So great to see you again!

@dancefoxtrot  - I'm in a suburb of Chicago! So close!

@Bobbinyc  - Actually, I haven't thought about managing much of anything while in Vegas. I guess I'm still in "prepping to get there" mode. Two people are on a two week vacation from our office (starting this past Monday) and I have to cover for one of them so last week was training and this week I'm in the deep end. Another person was also trained so she could cover the same work while I'm gone for four days and I have to train someone else to do parts of my job while I'm gone. Then I have to think ahead to bill payments and groceries, meals, etc. for the boys while I'm gone (though my daughter will be home for the weekend so she will help where she can). Figuring out my cash flow while there, packing, had to shop for summer clothes because I don't really wear shorts here and didn't have a swim suit. My nephew's twins turned ten a few weeks ago so I needed cards and cash for them, the little one is turning five but my sister says we will take her shopping while there, Also, husband's great niece is turning one and he and my daughter are going to the party on Sunday while I'm gone so we have to get her a gift too. Whew! One more day to get ready and only about half done.

Sis and nephew are trying to figure out some touristy thing (winery, Hoover Dam, Red Rock, etc.) and will feed us at least once. The hotel has a kitchenette and I think we will be making use of it. I don't see food or movement (pool) as being as much of a problem as maybe alcohol, though I'm a light weight in that category too. Maybe I'll come home a little lighter. Sis said it hit 105 degrees there today, I can melt it off LOL!

@_Lilac_  - how are things by you?

Best Answer

Hi all! I'm back again—been gone a long time.

My wife died in February of last year, after her very long illness, and the kids and I are in Colorado now, enjoying the fresh air and long hikes. I figured it was time I got back on the wagon! So, late or not, here I am for the challenge!

USW - 210 (I don't know—way back when. 2015, maybe.)

SW - 205 (hello yo yo diet! SIGH)

CW - 199.2 (heading in the right direction, finally)

PW - 205 (weighed in with the doctor at the beginning of June and just finally bought a new scale today)

GW - 190

UGW- 140

Glad to see so many people I know still here! Good luck to us all!

@Cele21  and others,

Glad to hear that the birds aren't crashing into the work windows now.

Back from a wonderful 5 days in Chicago where I walked through parks, museums and an aquarium. My friend lives near to Millenium Park and there are lots of free concerts there.  We attended a Blues Festival with excellent music.

Back home and doing yard work yesterday.  Bloody hell I dropped the pruners on my ankle so I'm limping about last night and this morning.

About mounting the bike if I saw someone struggle to get on and off the bike and did it any way I would think "Way to go".  Our brains thinks of more excuses to avoid things. Just know that we will cheer you back here if you put in some bike time. Smiley Wink

Let's keep on getting healthier together,

Hope that you and your mom have better walking weather now in June.  The weather was crazy hot +15F above normal here north of SF, Calif earlier this week. Off to water plants today as weather dropped to safe for humans levels.

Happy painting. I like painting too. Seems like we need to manage to do active and sedentary things in some balance that leads to health.

Best,

Great list! Hope that you are doing what you plan to do.

You can tell yourself no junk food and soda.  Tell yourself that it is poison and that you don't eat #$@%&^ing poison! Go get a salad instead.  You can do this, I just know that you can.

Hope Las Vegas trip was fun.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear of stomach virus, and strep throat!! All weight loss counts even from illness, I think!

Haven't done anything with the photos yet as I had to fix our low water flow problem when I can home. Today limping from dropping the pruning shears on my ankle which is swollen.

Off to food shop, wash clothes and water garden.

Hope that you recover fully soon.

Best,

Barbara

I'm back! Vegas was great! Averaged about 3.6 miles walking per day. Temps started in the 80's in the morning and hit up to almost 115 by the afternoon. Made breakfast in the room every day, had some bad food (burgers, fries ) but no alcohol and chose the chicken salad option on both flights. We went first class both ways. This trip was my sister's treat all the way. I think I spent less than $150 with gambling (not much) and souvenirs. She let me leave a tip at one restaurant and I paid for the gas to re-fill the rental car. Saw the Bellagio fountain show twice (2 different songs/shows), went on the High Roller observation wheel, went to the MGM and Planet Hollywood casino's and our hotel was attached to the Miracle Mile Mall so we were there a lot. Hotel was gorgeous! Sis had a one bedroom suite and I had the connecting studio. Jacuzzi in every room. 24th floor with floor to ceiling windows facing Vegas Blvd. Went swimming once at the hotel and once at my nephew's house. Could have been three times but I didn't want to burn my burn. Saw the dry Hoover Dam - boy is their water table low!

Came back at the same weight I started at  - 211.8 so I'm happy and ready to continue moving (though I found out today that my knees like Vegas weather much, much better than Illinois weather) and breaking the 200 mark.

@Cele21 Welcome back. Sounds like u had a great trip but 115 F yeow!!

Good for u not gaining on your vacation.

My scale got smashed by a magnet falling on it.  I need to replace it in next few days. I need the morning weigh in to keep me on task.

Let's dive back in toward our goals

Hi everyone! One week from today is the end of this challenge! Are you ready?

I will not be hitting my goal, but as of Monday I have been really close to back on track.

No soda since Monday, got to the gym yesterday, and once the snacks we have at home are gone, they will not be replaced. They are disappearing slowly because I have cut back on frequency and portion size.

Tomorrow is the end of this challenge!

I am willing to start up the next one if anyone is interested but to be honest, it looks like a lot of people have dropped off. Please reply if you want another one, it would be from July 4th to September 2nd (U.S. Labor Day). Tagging so you see this.

Ok, good timing. I have to get serious about this. So @Cele21  I would appreciate another challenge.

I got a call today from the neurosurgeon and they want me to come in for a pre-surgical consultation and MRI. I'm too big for the darned machine, so I need to lose the weight I gained back. I can't afford the gym/pool, so I have to do it on my own. My sister has an above ground pool, so I guess I'll be going there to do some self-led water aerobics. Walking, Leslie Sansone videos, I just have to be careful not to hurt myself, which really limited my weight loss efforts last time. I'll get on the scale Monday morning for an official weigh in.

@RachelShrinks  Aww crap. Sorry about your wife. I know it was such a long illness and you did a great job of taking care of her and everyone in the family. It's time for you.

When my husband died I'd decided I couldn't go out like him, so ill, so heavy that it took a bunch of people to move him from bed to stretcher, etc. I just can't let myself deteriorate and have someone taking care of me at 300-400 lbs. I did lose, but I've put some back on, so now I'm back at it.

I'm heading to brain surgery soon. What if something happens to me and people have to take care of me? It's a great fear.

Anyway, I am glad you are getting out and doing activities with the kids. Stay busy, stay healthy.
