Is anyone using meal replacement shakes? I am looking to replace 2 meals, any suggestions?

I have used them in the past, I used WonderSlim, you can get them from Diet Direct.com.

I used them for 2 months before my wedding. I did lose some weight, but I was also working out 5 nights a week for about an hour at a time.
Here's the thing I learned: They seem like a real good idea and easy, but I got sick of them sooo fast. There's always a funky after taste and I was never really satisfied without something to CHEW! Also, if you look up the nutrition on them, most of the time I could have had an egg, some fruit and a drink for the same cals and protein that the shake had without all of the chemicals, artificial sweeteners and sugars.

So in the end, I just realized that it was way cheaper and easier to just eat regular "real" foods. Those shakes are crazy expensive. I gained back the majority of what I lost after stopping the shakes too. So it was more important for me personally to just figure out what and how much I needed to be eating.

So, take that or leave it, it's of course your choice if you still want to use the shakes, I just wanted to help and give my personal experience! Good luck!

I drink Shakeology.  It tastes better than some of the others I've tried.  You can buy it from Beachbody.com.  It comes in the usual chocolate and vanilla, as well as some fruit flavors.  It has a lot of plant based nutrients and no sugar.  It gets very thick and is very filling.  I have a hard time finishing one!  No gross after taste either!  They also send you recipes to enhance the shakes and to make regular food using the powder.  I haven't tried them, but they look good.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response! I spent some time on-line looking at my options... they really are expensive! I decided to have one as an emergency option since I don't always have prepared healthy options available. With 3 kids and a needy hubby, I need somthing ready quick... but I can prepare meals on Sunday for the week and have the shake as a backup in case something came up and I wasn't able to prepare my meals. Thanks again for the advice!

I don't do meal replacement shakes, but I do drink a protein shake for breakfast. I searched high and low and finally found a no carb protein shake this year that has 24 grams of protein per serving, can be mixed with milk or water, and tastes great.

So my breakfast most days is a protein shake with a banana mixed in it. I put the banana in it because eating a banana once a day is supposed to help your leptin levels. I generally drink my shake about 7am and I don't start thinking about food until lunchtime which is about 1pm for me.

If protein powder wasn't so darn expensive, I'd drink a shake as my evening snack too - it would probably help me leave the candy alone.

Everyone should watch the documentaries 'the men who made us fat' and ' the men who made us thin'.
They show just how useful those shakes really are (scam and moneymaker spring to mind) for most people.

Not really an ideal choice for weight loss. For starters, there's no nutritional value in shakes. It's a quick drink bottle. You don't get essential vitamins from fruits, veggies, meats, eggs, etc.

You also feel hungrier to add extra calories. You wind up stopping for extra breakfast and extra lunch. It's also easy to overdo your caloric intake that way. I wound up ingesting 1,000 calories from shakes added on. Definitely not for me. Even if I bought a tank that says "25G of protein", I felt hungrier drinking them shakes and ended up with 4, 5 servings of 250 calories each and picked up 10 pounds.

It's best to eat natural foods or foods prescribed by a nutritionist. I did subscribe to shakeology which worked good for an appetite suppresant, but you have to remember to only drink one dosage a day. Not a dozen dosages. One.

Where do we get to see the list of ingredients and the nutritional content of Shakeology, so as to assess the validity of the claim about the "good stuff"?

I use Sci-Mx DietPro Meal Shakes, taste good and they are well balanced macros. It is a touch expensive but I dont get the chance to take a lunch break on most days so its convienent. Only downside is that one shake is just under 200 kcal, so ive started having a breakfast shake which is two scoops of whey and 30g of oats in a blender which is around the 300kcal mark. Just remember that a shake cant replace solid food...

Consider looking into green smoothies instead of the processed shakes. Google "Incredible Smoothies" or "Simply Green Smoothies." Extremely healthy, an entire days worth of fruits and veggies, tastes delicious, has some protein, plenty of fiber, and will keep you full.

My favorite recipe is:

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 big handful of spinach or baby kale

1 banana

1 T. psyllium husk powder

1 cup water

Blend the water, psyllium powder, and greens for a minute, then add the remaining ingredients and blend another minute. If you want you can add a packet of stevia to sweeten it a bit. Less than 300 calories.

You could also add some yogurt or almond milk if you want it creamier. A lot of people think that the greens will taste awful, but the key is to use nice ripe bananas.

I tried Optifast, all I lost was money, really expensive. I did not lose much, prob because I had been dieting before that and had lost some. I do drink a shake in the morning, due to time factor. I keep, them around for hunger, they seem to work, but all in all, I found I need to learn how to manage food, gets harder as you age , I am 57 and when I was younger , I thought about losing weight and I did, nowwww, not.
