Mental Plateau!

Hi there!

December is a crazy time for most people. My work has me traveling consistently, for different periods of time (a quick overnight trip, up through a full two weeks being home for as little as one night or one week in between each trip). Being away from home so much really affected my schedule in terms of food prep and planning. December marked the final month of this 3 month crazy schedule.

Weight wise I've been going up and down on the scale, but that's hardly surprising - meals/food choices and irregular meal planning have obviously taken place.

My travel schedule will be calming down after the holidays, but as I'm making my way through this time, I've been feeling a bit mentally stuck in the way of thinking about my health journey. I knew that plenty of unforseen things can pop up during stressful times. I hadn't quite realized just how many trips would take place, but I see it more as being grateful for the work and the opportunity to learn how to better handle it next year.

What are some New Year's rituals to help you re-focus, re-commit, or get back on track?

What are some short term ideas versus long term goals that help you refresh for the new year/season?

Congrats on finishing the final month of chaos! I couldn't imagine being away from home as much as you!

I like to set small weight loss goals for myself, that way it doesn't seem too unreachable but still keep an overall goal in mind. My overall is 60 lbs and I always push myself each time for 5 pounds. Now i'm only 5 away from that 60! Anytime I have a bad day, where I eat a little too much or things I shouldn't I don't put myself down or make it a big deal. I just make the decision to reset myself the next day with clean healthy eating and a good workout at the gym. Totally remotivates me. I hope this helped 🙂

Have faith and confidence in yourself, once you overcome the mental battle you've almost won it all!

Thank you, @awood08, and congrats on your success!!

That is a great idea! I guess in the midst of the intense scheduling I got a bit overwhelmed (and thus mentally exhausted) from everything. Breaking it down to 5 lb at a time would definitely help me refocus quickly. 🙂
