Motivation and over 240lbs weight loss

2 years and 120+ kilograms later and a LOT of that loss is due to my many bought and then lost FitBit units.

No, it doesn't actually MAKE you do anything, but it sure helps motivate.

Took me a while to work up to the reccomended 10,000 daily steps, but I'm now doing those before breakfast every morning, and I have it set higher now.

Got the Aria scales too, which made me cry for a long long time.

Of course cutting out carbs as much as possible and portion control was also a huge part in me now being able to walk up a set of stairs without feeling like I was about to go into cardiac arrest (and without the stairs threatening to collapse on me), but just having daily targets and an easy way to track them was an immense help.

Thanks guys. Still a bit to go and then I have unwanted skin to deal with. That stuff just doesn't snap back 😞

I used to think that before/after pics were fake, but it can be done. Just lots of hard work and self control which the fitbits (on my 4th now) help a lot with.

Well done and thank you, this was just the motivation I needed. I have 100lbs to lose and today am restarting my fitbit program. Had it for a year but havent really been sticking to it. Did you use the premium features? I can manage 10000 steps each day but feel like I need to increase my activity.

Wow... great job!  I'm looking to lose between 85 and 100 lbs myself, and I'm just starting out.  10,000 steps per day sounds like a lot to me, but there are things I can do to increase that number.  My first "routine" day including work yesterday and an 18-minute walk with the kids yielded over 5,000, but I'm concerned that's not quite enough.  I'd love to hear what kind of exercise routine you started with and what you're doing now - you've got some great results!  Very inspirational.

Apparently 10,000 is the minimum anyone should be doing each day anyway.

With my pre 8:00am walks and general daily activity I pretty much always get a lot more.  Did almost 24,000 yesterday and got sunburnt 😞 just walking about to and fro between shops and stuff.

Takes me about 1:45 to do 10,000 at a slightly brisk walk early in the morning.  I'm hoping it kickstarts my metabolism a bit for the rest of the day but who knows.

Seriously, nice job!  To stay with the program for 2 years is awesome.  We all want to loose it quickly and it seems a drudgery when in the process, but if we think about it, it probably took us just as long or longer to put it on.

I'm not even a week into my program yet, so the journey is just starting for me.  I'm taking it like my 10,000 step goal - one step at a time.  I too ordered the Ariba scale, but don't have it yet.  Got the email it shipped, but USPS is a little uncertain. Supposed ot have expidited shipping in 2-3 business days, so may not get it until Friday or Saturday.  Not confident in the accuracy of my current bathroom scales, so I"l really looking forward to good quality scales.

Keep up the good work.  Remember, the lighter you get, the more intensity you have to put into it.    If you platau, mix up your activities to avoid muscle memory.  Good luck on those last few pounds.

Regarding the scales, I pop into my doctor's office every few months and use one of their calibrated scales (they're more than happy to let me).  The arias seem to drit a little bit, but they match up with the doctor's scales within a couple of pounds.

So long as you know which way your scales are drifting you can add or subtract here and there.
