My battle with obesity, there's always hope

Late 2012 after the Olypics I was facing some real health issues, I had always been large at over 360lbs but the fact I could not find employment and no woman would even take notice of me or even talk to me unless forced into polite coversation started to get me down, this caused my weight to skyrocket to over 420lbs.

Every day going out watching people look away in disgust or glare at me with judgemental eyes, or going into a cafe and being told they can't accommodate my size and that "your presence would turn potential customers away"  did not bother me at all, after all You do get used to it, I had never been one of those large guys that sit in a chair and can't move, even though I was large I still had alot of energy and I was quite agile for someone my size, so in my mind it was them who had the problem not me.

Job interview after job interview came and went, the jobcentre at my throat and no job anywhere in sight; on my way home after another failed interview I ducked into a pub for a drink of orange juice and whom do I see at the bar but the guy who interviewed me, the guy bought me a drink and apologies, he then goes on to tell me he couldnt hire me due to my weight, and in fact the chances of anyone employing me would be slim due to health and safty and insurance.

That very morning I set out on my battle, I started my diet.

Diet Protein shake in the morning.

Brown rice with sweetcorn, or rice with chicken breast slices for dinner

Diet protein shake Late snack

on avg 800 to 1000 cal

I stuck to this religiously.

Me and freya my wolf hybrid (my avatar photo) then took to hiking, we started with short 2 mile and then longer up to 10 mils walks/hikes a day, I then managed to save some money up for an exercise bike and started the routine of morning 30min cardio and late afternoon 40 min cardio.

This time last year I was 420 lbs, today i'm 280lbs, my battle continues I am still on the diet, and still doing my exercise routine, Still looking for that elusive Job and a woman to share my life with.

My battle continues, I will fight on until I reach my Goals, and I hope that those among you who are going through the same hell as I, know that the fight can be won!

I write this in the hopes that it may help motivate others, its a long hard road with many bumps and wrong turns but it does get easier!

You've done great!  I worked in the weightloss industry for about 10 years, and know it's a tough battle, but it can be done...you're proof of that.

Thank you for sharing your story!

Wow,

Very powerful!  You have alot to be proud of.  I don't think I could do what you have done.  Although, I am not facing the issues you were.  I am tired of the extra weight but, I am employed, I have a wonderful husband.....I guess I don't have the preasure to make the drastic changes you have.  I am so impressed by your strength and stamina.  I need to find my rock bottom.....congratulations!!  Your awesome~!~~ I'm sure I'll be back to read your post again....it will serve as motivation for me.  Thank you for sharing and your honesty.

I think you have done a fantastic job.

When the bartender told you that he could not hire you because of your weight, and that gaining employment would be extremely difficult - that was the jolt you needed to hear.

Some people need a large bucket of cold water dumped on their head. It is painful, it sucks - but it works. That bartender is a good friend. He may well have saved your life.

Keep up the good work. Always remember what it was like being 420 pounds, and remind yourself that you never want to go back there again.

here are some pics of my friends.

She is named mishka, nickname "kissyfurr" because she will jump into your arms and lick you on the mouth if you leave her alone for longer than 20 seconds.

I wish you luck! It does get easier.
If your knees pain you when exercising you might want to find a more low impact form of cardio like recumbent cycle or swiming
