Congratulations 🙂 You will not only feel better and see your heath issues decrease but you'll gain a new sense of confidence and inner/outer strength. You'll surprise yourself at the milestones and accomplishments you acheive on this journey. I don't know of any walking groups except going to Leslie Sansone's website. She has made Walk at Home dvds that I have found helpful and I think she'll have walking events. Another thought I had was maybe check out a local YMCA. Best of luck and health to you. 😄

Slowly is the key, gradually building up with exercise. When your body is tired, allow to rest.
Happy Fitbitting 😉

Congrats.
The FitBit itself won't make you lose weight. I can't stick to any defined diet. I eat what I want to eat. But I set a 500 calorie deficet goal and you just have to be honost with it. If you have a cup of coffe, enter it. If you have bacon and eggs, enter them. Orange Juice, enter it.
If you don't lie to it, then it, like a GPS, won't complain but reset a new target date to lose your weight. I got mine about 2.5 months ago. I was 228 lbs. I'm now down t 200 lbs with a goal of 195. None of my pants fit anymore and all my belts are on the last notch.
Short story, having a fitbit is like tieing a string on your wriist. Since I've had it I've thought 2-3 times if I 'Really' need that cupcake. Most of the time it's no, but if I want a cupcake or two, I'll have then and scan the Hostess box. It just changes your intake... If I had a giant 1500 calorie lunch, then I just have some coffee and some thing small at night.
And no Jenny Craig food to buy, eat what you want, just be honest with it and yourself and you will lose the weight.
