New Years to Valentine's Day 2016 Challenge

Welcome to the New Year Everyone! This will start January 1, 2016 officially 🙂

If you have seen the posts before this is a challenge that everyone is invited to join to set your own personal weight loss goal for the next 6 weeks. This is all about having a great support system and most importantly feeling great and happy and healthy about yourself. Don't worry if you have bad weeks because we all go through it.

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you'd like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has some huge inspiration in it and people that give wonderful advice.

Looking forward to catching up with all our friends from the other challenges and anyone who is new!

Best approach....go without carbs and sugar for 3 days to rid your body and stop cravings and slowly introduce in much smaller quantities thereafter. Good work. I'm on day 3 of this adventure and determined it will work. Good luck everyone.

Hi all!

I just got a FitBit for Christmas.  I love it!  I've been actively working out and trying to eat decently since Spring of last year.  But it is nice to have a better estimate of calories that I am burning daily.  I'm a few days late, but I would love to get in on this challenge.

USW: 183 lbs

CSW: 144 lbs

CGW: 139 lbs

UGW: 130 lbs

I've been stuck at my weight for about a month because of the holidays.  I'm weak this time of year!  I really just want to bust through into the 130s.  That will get me super motivated as my goal weight is 130.  I'll try my best to weigh-in and report once weekly (Wednesdays are my weigh -in days).  Good luck, everyone!

I'll join too.  I need some motivation to get back in shape and I hope this and my new Fitbit will help do the trick.

Hi all, I am a 38 year old mom of 2 girls who is ready to get into shape once and for all this year. Exercise is somthing I struggle with and I am trying to make a big priority for me this year. I also struggle with sweets of all kinds which have always been a weakeness for me. I am going to try and cut out / limit my processed carbs because I have heard others say that helps them.  Time shall tell 🙂

Hello and Welcome to the Challenge, It's a journey and never an easy one to continue. One tip, if I may share, to exercise is finding something you really love and look forward to doing - almost daily if you can work it into your schedule. While I had tried Zumba in the past when I was much younger, I rediscovered it about a year ago and simply cannot get enough. The days I am unable to find or make it to a class are the saddest for me and I definitely feel unfulfilled. Going to Zumba makes me happy as all of the instructors just tell you to have fun. Doesn't matter if you are a dancing queen or a first timer. There's something for almost everyone at a Zumba class. One step at a time....you can conquer this and feel healthy once again. Good Luck!

@dareric  I absolutely agree about finding something you love!  Your tip is so important.  And lots of things are exercise that don't even seem like they would be.

I love to swim but I really don't like gyms (and I don't have a pool), so I don't do it as often as I would like.  I enjoy hiking with my dog and live in a place that has a desert and mountain nearby, so that works consistently, especially in summer.

In winter, though, it's tricky. My fitbit and my dog have been my two most consistent movement motivators summer AND winter until recently, when I discovered while messing around with my grandkids' headsets that all I have to do is put on a playlist of songs that move me and I will MOVE.  I will MOVE and MOVE and MOVE.

It's pretty funny.  I feel like I'm on drugs with that headset filling my head--and whole body--with rhythm.  I could dance for an hour to Pharrell Williams "Happy," one of among many other tunes, that I am now calling my "boogy tunes."  And I have to say that at the age of 70, that kind of dancing for me is not just steps, it's HIITs.  LOVE IT!!!!

So a combination of "loves" is also helpful.  I have a stationary bike, but it's a last resort, and I don't love it, but I don't hate it, so if all else fails . . .  I can do that and watch a good tv show.  Like most things in life, if you can find your passion it helps significantly.

So just received a Fitbit HR. Very excited. Have exercised consistently every day (boy 10000 steps is hard!) for last week but my food intake has (knowingly!) been a shocker. Using MyFitnessPal and MapMyWalk in conjunction. Back at work today so implementing my lifestyle (read diet!) changes from today. Slightly embarrassed to enter my weights but at least I'm tackling it!! Best of luck to everyone.
CSW 03/01/16. 209lb
USW 03/01/16. 209lb
CGW 14/02/15. 200lb
UGW 24/12/16. 140lb

I usually only use kg's and I know my time is slightly unrealistic for my UGW however will revise as I go!

Do what you love, and love what you do.  Go buy yourself a pair of wireless headphones.  I'll bet your grandkids' could help you synch up your favorite tunes.  You will move move move.  Anxious to track our results weekly.  Best of all to you.  Time to get moving on this end now too....

Nothing to be embarassed about.  Tracking is accountability and it's proven to work if you want it badly enough.  You can do this!
