New Years to Valentine's Day 2016 Challenge

Welcome to the New Year Everyone! This will start January 1, 2016 officially 🙂

If you have seen the posts before this is a challenge that everyone is invited to join to set your own personal weight loss goal for the next 6 weeks. This is all about having a great support system and most importantly feeling great and happy and healthy about yourself. Don't worry if you have bad weeks because we all go through it.

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you'd like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has some huge inspiration in it and people that give wonderful advice.

Looking forward to catching up with all our friends from the other challenges and anyone who is new!

I found the Happy Scale but it's for Apple users. I have an Android so I downloaded Libra which is supposed to do the same as Happy Scale. I'll check it out.

Hi, awood08! Thanks for this great challenge. I just got my fitbit and would like to join this group. I clicked on Subscribe from the Option menu, but I do not see how to post my info unless I reply to your post. Is that how I do it, or do I have to go a different way?

Thanks for your time, and best wishes on achieving your goals!

Hello, everyone. Sorry to join so late. I just got my fitbit yesterday and found this great group. Since it is still giving me a month to work with, I thought I can benefit from the Valentine Challenge. I was 173 before Thanksgiving (after loosing 10 lb!), and the holidays got he best of me. I need to get back, and pick up from where I left until I reach my ultimate weight goal. Any great tips on weight loss that you guys can share?

Hi @Bogdel Smiley Happy

I don't know that they are great tips but for me it's come down to taking care of a few fundamental things, I've been thinking a lot more about what I eat, how much I eat & making sure I move more.

So I have been tracking my food intake using MyFitness Pal & linked that with my Fitbit to see my cal in v out & have tried to maintain a good steady weight loss in the hope I can keep it off for good. So nothing too drastic & I do treat myself from time to time because a) it's a nice reward & b) life's too short not to enjoy a warm chocolate brownie lol Smiley LOL

And I've actually found that I have come to love running, not massive distances like the people who can run marathons but up to the 10km mark & finding an exercise that I enjoy has been key, because then I don't see it as a chore, just 30mins to an hour of time to myself to stretch my legs & clear my head.

Good luck with your goals! Smiley Happy

Hi, Sarah! Thanks for the encouragement and tips. While running is not my thing (I get tired very quickly), I can walk fast, and I will try to do that daily for at least 30 minutes. My main challenge is to reduce my portion size and stay away from sweets during holidays, when everyone comes up with delicious deserts. That's how I gained back the last 10 pounds that I managed to loose before Thanksgiving! Now I am paying for it, and need to get back to work.  Let's cheer each other here, and hld each other accountible. Best wishes!

Hello everyone,

Am I too late to join? Been on vacation for a while and well as life goes got a little busy! Well here are my stats if I may:

USW- 295.0 (09-13-13)

CSW- 189.4 (01-07-16)

GW- 175.0

UGW- 165.0 (back to pre baby weight!) He's 6 years old now!

I would live to get advice on lossing the last few pounds or at least some great tips on getting back my abs! I hold a rather large baby pouch and can't seem to lose it! This challenge is great because the ending date should be arounf the date I leave for the military, so any advice will help! Thanks everyone.

I'm the same as you, back and forth between the same weight range. I've heard that it is normal to fluctuate but it sure would be nice to lose steadily. Don't give up, though, it's got to happen sometime soon!

Welcome to our challenge. Sounds like lowering carbs & sugars would help. Make sure that you have adequate protein also. Writing down everything you eat helps to keep you more conscious. Sounds like strengthening your muscles is key if you are going into the military! Are you a gym member or near a community center with work out classes. Work out at least every other day so you are ready for a grueling boot camp in mid-Feb. I love Zumba like cardio classes but spinning, biking, jogging works too.

The one thing you don't want to do is lose any muscle through consuming less than 1200 calories or being too sedentary.

Best of luck in your service to the country and stay safe.

Yes hit reply and if your message is for someone specific put their name at the top so it is not confusing.

Welcome. Sounds like fewer carbs and sugars is a great way to get the lbs. off since you are moving.

Most of us find new way to treat ourselves instead of dessert and large portions of pasta.  I hit goal weight and bounced back up to 140 yesterday but back to 138.6 this morning. On my way back to 135 I hope.

Time to check in! I'm surprised that I'm actual making progress. The flu really kicked my butt, so my activity level has been all over the place. I'm so happy to see my scale moving in the right direction!

Thanks, Barb. Eventually, I figured it up. It would have helped if they gave some instructions at the top of the discussion. I saw oter people asking the same questions. Any way, it's good to be here, and I am looking forward to this new experience. Best wishes and stay healthy.
