New and looking for friends and motivation! :)

ANSWERED

Hey! I'm Tracy!
This is my first week using the FitBit One. I'm loving it so far, but I feel like it could be a lot more fun if I was able to communicate with other users, and we could reach out to each other for advice and/or motivation! I would also love to exchange meal ideas. Smiley Happy
I have around 40 pounds to lose and I'm super pumped! I would love the support and to also show support to others. Heart
Here's to making new friends!... Hopefully! Haha!

Hi Tracy15, It is so hard, you just need to find what works for you. Some people said I was not getting enough protein so I was eating more protein still staying within my budget for the day but I gained half pound. I weigh in each week at a TOPS club just to be accountable for each week. I have only gained 3 times since April 1st. I also have a bad knee, bone on bone, need to lose weight to help with that, before they will do surgery. It hurts to walk but I need to walk to get the pounds off. Today I only did 7,500 due to pain, I have no choice. I guess I should tell you I am 65 years old, retired from Walmart. You can do this, it is a battle but well worth all the effort! Thanks for commenting, I am so new to this and I am not sure how to find you again.

Hi,
You are doing great.   I had gastric bypass 7 years ago and lost 125lbs.   I have been 40lbs shy of my goal weight since and can't seem to get there.  I am 49 years old and have always worked out with strength training and cardio.  I am toned and don't look like I am that overweight but the #s don't lie.   I am 5,1 and small boned.  I am currently doing Ideal protein diet and fluctuate within 10lbs.  up 3, down 5, up 1 down 2 etc.   I think it may have to do with my mal absorption issues.   I get in a lot of protein but in the form mostly of shakes or smoothies because I do seem to get sick after eating because of the restriction.
I am not giving up though.   everyday is  a new day!
Thanks for the response.  I hope you feel better.

I just discovered this board, and more importantly, your post! I've been looking for an accountability partner (or partners) to check in with and help motivate me to actually go to the gym, eat well, etc, and I would love to do the same. I have about 30lbs to lose, myself.  🙂 Feel free to add me! Yay for friends!

Hello I am sorry I haven't been on in a day or more, I can't seem to find this message board and I am not sure how to add friends. I am very much interested in supporting others with words of encouragement. I have lost another three pounds this week, so my total is now 30!!!! Slow but surely it is comimng off. It is so hard to walk each night in hopes of shedding a few my ounces. When I want to eat something not good I think oh great more walking, so I usually skip it.

Hi Tracy welcome to the family. I am glad to see you have chosen fitbit to help you reach your goal ,Mine name is Larry I have been on here about 4 mos and I love fitbit. It does everything I need it to. I came in weighing 189 and a waist of 38, now I weight is 162.2 and my waist is 34.:) I do the excirsie bike every day no mater what and some times 3X per day. I all so do the walking and try to jog the best I can and I have to use a walker. See I have spinel stenios which has damage all the nerves connect to my spine and lower lumber problems. I have many health iusses. B12 defienicy and I have to use a cane or two canes to help me walk. I am in pain 24/7 and their nothing that can be done for the spine. The doctors have said it to late. I am all so a type two diabete and totaly disable. Yes I do drive but I told my self pain or no pain I need to fight back. Thats what Ive done. So i do as much as I CAN EVERY DAY AND NIGHT. I all so watch my carb intake a lot and just this week I have started watching my Calories. Its not bad like I thought it would be. I eat what ever I want but I watch how much i eat. When my belly say I am full I stop. I eat lots of chicken grill and turkey sandwhiches on wheat bread. Every thing I eat I check the carbs the calories I watch the amount I eat. But I am doinmg well and totaly fine with my change of life style. I SHOULD OF DONE THIS LONG TIME AGO.But any way welcome and I like to be on your friend list if you care to add me. Hey they, Larry here. So how are you and your Fitbit getting along. I'm doing fine with mine. Once you set your mind to do it and do t let nothing distract you from meeting your clothes will be just fine. A lot of work but the end result will be well worth it.

Hi Sunshine!!

I think we may be in the same boat. I have depression and anxiety and living with that illness is an added huge challenge to get into the mindset of losing weight and taking care of your body.

I personally believe that body and mind are going together - out of my own experience.

In January this year I actually read a number of medical articles and research papers. I learned that being overweight and having additional fat tissue makes your body create hormones that affect your brain in a way so that you are more prone to depression or your depression worsens. And this works both ways. It's a vicious cycle!

Knowing that made me decide that the thing that I could do, was lose weight. The other part was the job of my doctors. It was the first time I was able to stick to my plan, my new lifestyle because I knew, I would only be able to manage and live better with my depression if I lost the added weight.

My experience also taught me that PEER SUPPORT was the most important thing next to the support of my personal coach. I have 24/7 access to her online and she is such a supporter and so committed to me achieving my fitness and health goal. After 2 months now I call her a good friend. She is so committed to helping people as a coach. It's wonderful. And the best - it's free!

Anyway.... this is just a little bit of my story. I hope it can help you see that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! There are so many people out there that want to help you and see you succeed.

Let me know if you'd like to talk more!

Cheers

Birgit

I love yoga, pilates, knitting, my fitbit and walking my dog! +++ Started with 100 lbs to lose - 60% there - reclaiming my life and health!

Hi,
Well, today is my first day and humidity is high in Philly! I walked 3000 steps and tracking food. Just getting familiar with the Fitbit and FitnessPal and new recipes. Well, one day at a time. How was your day? maureen

Hello Sunshine, I have been stuck in a no lose phase due to a few days on vacation. I did walk around the hotel and use the treadmill but eating out and more often than at home. Now I have added to my step goal of 10,000 daily to 15,000 it is so hard those last 5,000, I walk three times a day. I find that emotions play such a big role in what and when I eat and of course why. Now I find I have to reason it out in my head, no I am not hungry i am just worried or mad, so then I go for a walk. Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Many people think having less weight means you are fit, and if you weigh more you are fat. Well Breaking News... that's not true, losing just weight will mean no good if with just 45 kg perfect bikini body, you cant even lift 5 kgs... All my newbie Fitbit friends, Please concentrate on eating a healthy diet and maintaining the proper fat to muscle ratio, no matter if you weigh a ton, but if that weight comes from your muscles and not from fat, its Christmas.... I have read many posts where people are wondering, pondering, worrying, and being restless for their weight. hence I thought to post this. Have a great Weekend... 🙂
