New to FitBit, 70+ lbs to lose

Hey!  I'm 33, had my second child 8 months ago and gained a ton of weight in the last trimester.  I was 165lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy and doing hot yoga 6x/week, plus running.  I was determined not to go down the same road as I did with my first pregnancy, when I gained almost 90lbs, but I have hip dysplasia and the weight of the baby by the end of the 2nd trimester made any activity extremely painful.  Walking to pick my daughter up from school was daily agony - pretty disheartening to go from fit and active to gaining 60lbs in three months.

When my daughter was five months old, my mom died of cancer.  During my first trimester of pregnancy with this baby, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.  Chemo again, and he declined rapidly after I gave birth and died three months ago when my son was five months old.  A pretty crappy coincidence, and I definitely coped with reliving my mom's death and losing my dad through emotional eating.  I'm not happy to be back in almost exactly the same place I was after I had my daughter.  I worked really bloody hard to lose that 90lbs and now I'm back at square one!

I'm hoping FitBit will be the tool I need to stay on track.   I lost all the weight from my first pregnancy solo - cut out refined carbs and started running - but I wasn't able to do it until I stopped nursing.  I'm still planning to nurse for at least another year, but I simply cannot stand living in this body I don't recognize.

I know it's only been five days, but I've been sooo disciplined with my eating!  FitBit is suggesting a 1300 cal/day intake.  I've stayed between 1100-1500 cals/day... and GAINED four pounds in four days.  How is this even possible? I've been meticulous, no refined carbs, tons of veggies and tons of water.

I will stick with it, hoping that I can push through and start to see the scale moving in the right direction. Looking for friends with similar goals.

Dodge a bullet yesterday. My friend decided to order cookies 1 dozen of regular and 1/2 a dozen of gluten free 😧 I have Celiac Disease so getting a gluten free cookie is a rare treat. I would have had too many cookies had the delivery guy actually showed up! So I dodged a big one!

How is everyone doing this fine Sunday?

Great - you did dodge a bullet there!  We're going out for dinner at The Keg, so I'm doing a big no-no by skipping lunch and snacks so I can actually eat some "bad" food.  Not such a balanced approach, but I've been slender all my life except for after pregnancy and this is how I've handled upcoming calorific meals.  😉

I do the same thing Chels, bank my calories for a special meal. I think it makes you really mindful even though it isn't healthy. Not going to lie, going to have some wine tonight. I am going to try and limit myself though. Good luck tonight!

Hi.  Im trying to lose 50.  Will be nice to be here supporting one another.  I've tried this and failed a couple times.  I'm tired of being over weight so enough is enough.

Good luck with your goals.

I'd like to join this party Smiley Happy.  I'm 39, had my 2nd child 7 months ago and my 1st 13 years ago.  I gained over 65 pounds with the 1st and never lost it.  It's been frustrating to no end but now I am determined to make a change.  Got my fitbit in October and it's been great at keeping me accountable.  I'm currently unemployed and using that time to my advantage to get out there and walk.  I need to lose about 60 pounds and would love support and ideas from others in the same boat.  Thanks!

Welcome!  This is "weigh in day"... It's my time 'o the month, and the scale hasn't budged this week - still an improvement over my usual 3-6lb gain at this point in my cycle, so yay.
