New to FitBit, 70+ lbs to lose

Hey!  I'm 33, had my second child 8 months ago and gained a ton of weight in the last trimester.  I was 165lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy and doing hot yoga 6x/week, plus running.  I was determined not to go down the same road as I did with my first pregnancy, when I gained almost 90lbs, but I have hip dysplasia and the weight of the baby by the end of the 2nd trimester made any activity extremely painful.  Walking to pick my daughter up from school was daily agony - pretty disheartening to go from fit and active to gaining 60lbs in three months.

When my daughter was five months old, my mom died of cancer.  During my first trimester of pregnancy with this baby, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.  Chemo again, and he declined rapidly after I gave birth and died three months ago when my son was five months old.  A pretty crappy coincidence, and I definitely coped with reliving my mom's death and losing my dad through emotional eating.  I'm not happy to be back in almost exactly the same place I was after I had my daughter.  I worked really bloody hard to lose that 90lbs and now I'm back at square one!

I'm hoping FitBit will be the tool I need to stay on track.   I lost all the weight from my first pregnancy solo - cut out refined carbs and started running - but I wasn't able to do it until I stopped nursing.  I'm still planning to nurse for at least another year, but I simply cannot stand living in this body I don't recognize.

I know it's only been five days, but I've been sooo disciplined with my eating!  FitBit is suggesting a 1300 cal/day intake.  I've stayed between 1100-1500 cals/day... and GAINED four pounds in four days.  How is this even possible? I've been meticulous, no refined carbs, tons of veggies and tons of water.

I will stick with it, hoping that I can push through and start to see the scale moving in the right direction. Looking for friends with similar goals.

Scale didn't budge much this week. I walk a ton but think I really need to do more. I've been hesitant to train harder because I'm still nursing and am concerned it might affect supply. Have a great weekend!

I'm 27 a mother of two boys ages 4 and almost 2.  I weigh 237lbs and want to be down to my highschool weight of 150lbs so I have about 80lbs to loose.  I have my fitbit flex sync'd with myfitnesspal and MFP says I need about 1500 calories per day.  Care if I join in with the group?  I need encouragement, I've been overweight all my life except my seinor year of high school where I was always working and never really eating just drinking energy drinks basically.  I'm a SAHM and college student and I eat a LOT better now but I'm addicted to carbs.  Husband really isn't on board with me cutting out foods so any help here would be awesome!

Thank you!

Hello Rebecca!

What I do is just put the not so good stuff on 100-200 calorie Ziploc. When you guys are eating something off plan you can keep the damage to a minimum.

Cheering you on!

Not much improvement but it was kind of a bad week. Foot has been hurting so I haven't been putting in the kind of effort I would have liked. I got excuses but I should have been eating better too.
Hoping to see a full pound gone by next week.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Take it one day at a time.

Your body will fight you every step of the way, don't give in.  Track your food and eat proteins first.  One trick that I got away from and now I am back to doing is measuring my food.  I have about three sets of measuring cups and spoons and I have a scale.  I really helps.

I just purchased my Fitbit last Saturday and in this first week it is been the best!  I carry my breakfast and lunch to work along with two snacks.  In two years I've lost 85 pounds; this past November I gained 10, CARBS are EVIL!!!! LOL

In doing research this past year about the Fitbit I got a good deal, the Fitbit plus the three extra wristbands. I am totally hooked!  My goal is to workout four days a week and this week I have succeeded. I can say in one week I noticed the difference in my waistbands.  Inches vs. pound are good too.

You can do this!!  I look forward to connecting with others that are using the Fitbit products and are on the weight loss journey.

Wishing you success!!

Karen

Well I am back, my DH was in hospital last week and I ate whatever I could find, mostly fast food. I don't think I broke 2,000 calories in a day, but I still gained weight. It is coming off now.
