Hi, I'm new to FitBit! Just joined today and am excited to have the FitBit so that I can see my progress in numbers. I'm a data girl....the more the better for me.
I was wondering if there is anyone that would like a "buddy" on their weight loss journey. I have the support of my loving family and would also like to find some cyber FitBit friends to share with (and help keep me accountable!) I have over 100 lbs to lose and will be taking it one day at a time.

I'd be happy to be your "coach". I too have a lot to lose-- and it sometimes helps when you have to be accountable to someone other than yourself. Feel free to add me as a friend. I believe we can sync our fitbits as well?

I just got my Fitbit flex yesterday an am learning how to use it still. I am also looking for friends to keep me motivated this second time around. I did lose a bunch of weight before but then I had a surgery where I couldn't really do anything and gained it back so I'm making it stick this time.

Hi, I am a new fitbit user..just got mine for christmas. I am super excited but also scared.... I have over 100lbs to loose and I have VERY bad knees so I really can't exercise. I have been told I will have to have knee surgery but they won't even consider it until I loose weight... I do have a YMCA membership and have done the water aerobics but I am very self concious about putting on a bathingsuit. I am looking for any help and encouragement I can get. (recipes,, hints etc...) I turned 45 this year and I want to be able to be around and play when my daughter has children.

Hi there! I'm also new to fitbit. I have 50 lbs to lose and just got my Flex yesterday as a Xmas gift from my mother. I love data and am excited. I'm a mom of two, an almost 15 yr old and an almost 1.5 year old. I'm currently unemployed and am a runner (though haven't been for about a month) and a Crossfitter. I like to eat good food and am mostly paleo, except when I am going through stress which is when I eat foods that make my body hurt and gain weightl. I'm looking for motivation, buddies and accountability partners. please feel free to add me iriskavanagh@gmail.com.

I recently lost 80lbs and even though I still have another 20-30 to go, I can totally empathize with your struggle. I just turned 50 last month and I'm scheduled to have a hip replacement in March. I'm in constant pain when ever I walk and I'm totally bummed out that I'm forced to have such intense and invasive surgery so young. But here is the deal, I now walk 5 miles every day, even though it is painful. I started out with absurdly small distances, just 1-block from my front door and back, once a day, then I worked progressively to the point I'm at now. (hint: who says you cant walk in segments? Even now if the pain gets to be too much, I stop and rest until I'm ready to start again, sometimes it takes several hours)
When I combined that with a serious, calorie restricted diet the pounds really started to fall away. The more I walked, the easier it was to stick with the calorie limits. I treated it like a numbers game. I always feel like it would be ok to backslide eat that cheeseburger or skip a walk, or park close to the grocery store front door, rather than park way out end of the lot and grind out the walk. And Sometimes I do capitulate to that little devil in my ear telling to take the easy route. But it gets easier and easier to smack him down.
The pain in my joints hasn't gone away, and my hip has actually continued to deteriorate, but that was going to happen anyway. And now the pain is specific to when I'm walking. Before it was constant, while I was sitting and doing everyday tasks, like putting on my socks! The weight loss and exercise has made the day-to-day stuff much easier though, and I actually find myself looking forward the hip replacement and hopefully an even more substantial easing of my arthritis pain.
I guess what finally motivated me was that I decided that I didn’t want to spend the last 1/3 of my life just plodding along, in pain, unhappy, with low self-esteem. You can get there, MommaJo, you just have to start. It will never be easy, but it will get easier as you go along, I promise. This is a bad metaphor, but how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! And how do you lose 100-pounds, 1-pound at a time. Go for it!

Hello,
I am new to Fitbit, also got mine as a christmas gift from my family. I as well have to loose 100lbs. I've been trying to loose for a while but have had difficulty loosing. I know I need to excercise more as well as change my eating habits. Would love to join with other fitbit users for motivation. Any recepies or food plans please share.
About 8 months ago my mom passed away and I also gained more weight during this time. I really need to loose weight because of health reasons, self esteem and I would like to enjoy my grandaughter wich is only 8 months.
thanks for sharing your story, it does help motivate when people share what they have gone thru.
thanks,
Nilsa

Day 2 - I exceeded my steps from yesterday but I'm struggling to reach 10K steps per day. I haven't dived into the changing of eating as of yet, but trying to get use to logging what I eat. How's everyone else doing?

I have three kids as well and a great family. I am missing out on life with them though because I am overweight. I will help out by being your friend and helping you on your journey. I struggle with food addiction and would like someone else to understand how difficult it is to just get through a day.
