I am 43, had a fitbit for Christmas and have linked it to MyFitnessPal and although I am not really going to be starting on my weight loss campaign till 2nd January I would like to get into it before that. I have recently had an operation on my foot and so am in an aircast boot and not managing many steps at the moment (about 2500 a day) but I am hoping this will increase as soon as I go back to the surgeon in early Jan. So, if anyone wants to join me, let me know and then I'll try and figure out how to add friends !

Ladies, if you click on a user's name, that will take you to their community profile. On their community profile, at the top beside their picture, will be a link to take you to their FitBit profile. From there, you can add them as a friend. Hope this helps!!

I just got my fitbit yesterday. I recently stopped running due to a knee injury flaring up so am using my fitbit to keep active with walking. Any newcomers to the thread feel free to add me!!

Hello Niki,
I just got my fitbit for Christmas. I too am excited about starting a new health and excerise plan. I am easily motivated in the beginning, but I start to slack off after a couple of weeks. I was in a "Biggest Looser" program at work and was motivated by co-workers everyday. The competition was great and kept me going. I had great success and my only exercise was walking. I always completed 5 miles and ate on my own plan similar to atkins. I also would ride my bike on weekends. I guess you will be following a low impact exercise schedule? Riding a bike would be great for that. I too am looking for friends and If I can figure out how to add you I will. We can do this!

Hi, I am 46 and received my fitbit and what a great way to stay motiviated. Family problems and changes last year caused me to gain weight. Sitting and watching tv. Now check to see if my goal is almost met before relaxing.

I would love to add friends. I am motivated but a little positive peer pressure would be awesome! I am having a hard time getting out walking in the cold weather!

Hi Lene,
I also have a hard time getting out walking in the cold. But you can also move around the house. Doing chores, going up and down the stairs, playing with the kids or pets, vaccuming etc. If you want to focus more on the steps.. I can suggest that you visit the mall and just walk around, or walk at WEM from Phase 1-4 or any mall nearest you. Do not use the elevators or escalators, use stairs instead. Monitor the temperature and weather for the week. In times that the forecast will be okay, then it would be lovely to walk outside and have some fresh air. I hope this helps!

I am 53 and need to lose 30-35 lbs. Just got my fitbit for Christmas and have been using it. Not crazy about the food log. How did you link it to my fitness pal? I would love to do that!

Congrats on starting your fitbit journey! 🙂
Just wanted to pop in quickly to lend some encouragement. As many people say, the bulk of weight loss actually happens in the kitchen (nutrition) so I wouldn't stress at all about being stuck in a foot cast ❤️ Good luck!
* disclaimer: exercise is still very much encouraged as part of the weight loss process to increase fat free mass, bone density and cardiovascular health etc.

Hey, good luck with the foot and the weightloss! I too am looking for new friends, being it a new year thought I would shake it up with some new friends, bit of a stickler for sticking to what and who I know.
Looking forward to making lots of changes, new friends and some new motivation.
Good Luck everyone! ♥
