Thank you for sharing @Mel9 and @Cele21. Sorry, as for myself I only share my weight and fitbit results here. But I will share that I also have had a yo-yo weight life since childhood.
However, I am very pleased with the changes I have made as a result of using my Fitbit since mid September and as a result of focusing on my health - much more active and eating clean - rather than focusing on the scale. My husband has also been extremely supportive these past few months - and that has been a huge bonus as well.
Here are my latest results as at this morning – November 28...
USW - Ultimate start weight: 230 lbs (September 19, 2018)
SW - Starting weight for the challenge: 212.5 lbs October 31
PW - Prior weigh-in: 207.1 lbs November 27
CW - Current weight: 206.8 lbs November 28 - lost 5.7 lbs so far during this challenge YES!!!
(Lost 23.2 lbs since September 19, 2018 - YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!)
GW - Goal weight for the challenge December 31: 205 lbs
UGW- Ultimate goal weight: 170 lbs
I might need to make my December 31 goal more ambitious since I am almost there already – that is a good problem.
Making healthy choices
More active, regardless of the weather

@LisefromCanada My focus for the majority of my journey has been my relationship with food, getting a control on that. Having the kind of mentality that would get me through the bumps in the road. I've been pretty consistent throughout. Just focusing on eating vegetables, lean meats, fruit in moderation and choosing my spots when I have certain foods like rice, pasta, ice cream, etc. I weigh everything I eat and when I'm not able to, I have a better idea of how much certain foods weigh and hence it helps me maintain a portion control. I also have started listening to my body more. Stopping when I feel full instead of stuffing my face when alone because of a twisted sense of shame I felt at eating in front of other people. I think the biggest thing I've probably done is making sure I eat every meal and cutting out pop/caffeinated cold drinks. I work at a grocery store so, you know, I'd eat nothing for an 8 hour closing shift and at the end I'd be so hungry I'd eat an entire bag of chips @ 10pm. And a coffee shop is right there so it was easy to grab a drink and breakfast that was 1000 calories (which I literally just looked up now because I really had no clue and that's crazy).
I exercise moderately, more so if I feel like I'm hitting a snag. But it's never been a major part of losing weight for me.

@nalagala - thanks for your post. You got it absolutely right! I now do more and more mindful eating. I realize I had very little idea how much I was eating now how much calories food had. Tracking my food on this site has been a huge eye opener for me.
But, I have to say that I also had to increase my activity to consistently lose weight. So exercise has become a big part of my new journey. I usually swim or go to aquafit class every other day and I walk about an hour a day. I envy you that you are managing so well without the added exercise - because my exercise does take up a lot of my time.
Well done!

@LisefromCanada It's honestly crazy how unaware you can be to what you're putting in your body. I use MFP and sync it to be fitbit and I honestly really love using it, it's been really helpful.
Don't be envious lol, I walk around a lot at my job so I can get 12000-13000 steps on a shift. I was also severely obese at the start so losing weight was much easier. I could focus on food and not much on the exercise. But as I have lost weight, my activity has just gone up naturally. Like I want to go out and just walk around the mall or go out with family/friends. And I'll always try to go on the treadmill, I'm trying to do at least 15 days of 30 minutes for this month. We'll see how it goes.
I'm curious, what kind of exercise do you do?

@nalagala I usually go to the Y and either swim lengths or do a deep water aquafit class for 45 minutes or more - and sometimes I do both. These last few months, I typically swim/aquafit about 15 to 20 times per month. Also in the last few months, I have been going for long walks - typically for an hour or so, and get over 10,000 steps 20 to 25 times per month. That's my exercise/activity. Thankfully, I really enjoy the water and the long walks, which makes it much easier to do faithfully.

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories. And also for sharing your challenges. I am 49 and have never had a naturally slim figure. I've always been stocky even when I was young and played a lot of sport. My goal is to be healthy, active and comfortable so I can travel a lot! I am a big stress eater and my big weight gains always coincide with prolonged stress. I am managing that quite well at the moment and the new job I moved to paid off. Still stress....but I have the power to manage and minimise it.
I've been a slacker this month with posting my weight on here. I've been travelling a lot and haven't made the time. I can tell you I have gained 600gm (1.3 pounds) and though I'm not happy about it.....I'm not overly stressed as I have been travelling for both work and pleasure.
Will do a proper weigh in post on my next scheduled weigh in day.
Thanks again to everyone for inspiration and travelling the journey together. Support makes it easier and check ins make me accountable.

I am happy to be down 3 pounds!! I suspect it’ll be a struggle to lose 6.9 pounds by the end of the year. But I’m going to try! It feels so good to see the scales moving down during the holidays. Going into the New Year with momentum is a new experience.
