Are there different qualities of powder or all of them the same?

They are all different from Calories to amount of protein , sugar etc. Read labels and go from there.
I myself quit using as they really dont do anything but add calories

If by "qualities" you mean things like "concentrate", "isolate", "hydrolized" etc., it’s as @WendyB said: several variants of the same stuff (e.g. whey), with more or less protein in relation to the other macronutrients (and therefore calories). It’s up to you to decide whether it makes sense to pay a premium for powder that contains very little carbs, for instance.
OTOH, keep in mind there’s protein in "real" food as well: eggs, meat, fish, cheese, beans, rice, quinoa. Real food tends to taste better.

Real food does taste better, but I think whey is going to be cheaper if you're adding a lot of protein. Steaks are getting expensive here!
The quality in protein powders varies greatly. Some manufacturer's add all kinds of junk, fillers and pseudo-supplements to their protein.
I would recommend getting a protein without all the additives. Look for something labeled like "pure protein" or "just protein". It's much cheaper to buy this way, and avoid the chocolate chemical flavoring. 🙂
