Replacing the wardrobe - going all in

I have often marvelled and even scoffed at peope who have lost weight and ditched their old clothes and then needed to buy them again when they put the weight back on.  I wondered why they wouldn't just hold on to them for a while, just in case.  Okay, I get it now.  I have a few garbage bags full of clothes ready to go out on donation.  I am not going back.  I am happy and healthy and eating well and I am not going back.  I am pot committed, all in.  I am not saying I won't bounce around a 10 lb variance, but I am not putting 70 lbs back on to this body.  Heaven help me if I don't stop myself before then.  It's getting a little expensive replacing all of my clothes, but man, does it feel good to put on something that fits and look in a mirror.  From getting everything out of a 40" relaxed fit I could to 34" jeans and it's seeming closer to 32" now.  From xl/xxl to a nice fitting large and sometimes looking at medium shirts/jackets.

Who else has made the commitment and burned their bridges?

I have a HUGE pile of clothes on my floor to be donated.  And like you, I'm not going back.  I've changed my diet forever.  I'm down 44 lbs, with 53 to go.  But I'm almost down to a 36x30 jean, and Large shirts aren't too far away.  I was a 42x30 RELAXED FIT, and XXL shirts....  Right now I'm a 38x30 regular fit, and they are loose....  XL shirts are getting loose too.  Tried on some 36x30 jeans a couple of weeks ago, still needed to lose about 1/2 an inch or so...

Right now, except for 3 pairs of $9.99 cheap jeans from Walmart, all of my clothes are from 7+ years ago!  Stuff I quit wearing back then because they were TOO SMALL.  Now these shirts are loose!!!

I even had to buy smaller running shorts cause the ones I started with TOO **ahem** BIG!!!  I had to get a new fitbit, cause my Surge is now TOO BIG for my wrist!

Talk about a great feeling!!!

Congrats on your weight loss dude, I can so relate!

I have a lot of business casual tousers for work and I thought I would have them altered rather than throw them out.  Those that can't be altered will get donated.  Jeans, well they can be work jeans to get dirty and I'll buy new ones to wear casually.  Getting them stained and all will make them unusable for anything other than working around the house.  Besides, at the bigger size I put put more things in my pockets to carry around such as small tools.

I also have some clothes left from when I was thin.  I can fit into some of them now.  In a couple of weeks, I hope to be back in the 32's as well.  I"ll be the size I was when I left the Army back in 89

Same boat as many.  I am down 30 pounds with another 30 to go so I am not replacing everythign until I get to the final zone but as things get way to big they are going away.  Except for the sweats and workout clothes.  They can stay baggy as I am not looking to impress anyone.

I cleaned out my closet a couple of weeks ago, and finally got around to bagging them for donation a couple of days ago. Twenty-two shirts, five pairs of pants and three pairs of shorts. It's a wonderful feeling seeing them go. I've found five-packs of Haynes pocket tee-shirts in various colors at Wal-Mart make a fine interim wardrobe for a retiree. 🙂

I gave everything away- twice. I was a 12 and when I got down to an 8- I went a little nuts. Imagine what happened when I got to my current size 4. I refuse to keep bigger clothes- its like an excuse or insurance policy towards failure instead of keeping yourself accountable for succes.. good for you!

The opposite has happened to me: I kept a few clothes I wore when I was in my twenties (that was in the 1980’s!), even though there was no way I could fit in them. Now I can fit in them again, which is a great feeling, and I can go out in full retro Miami Vice fashion 😉
