Hi all. I have a fat loss goal of 97 pounds. (insert sounds of sobbing and head banging off keyboard). I've been "trying" to lose that weight for so long now I've about given up.
Seven years ago I went on the jenny diet (will never make THAT mistake again) which resulted, after 18 months, in a loss of 58 pounds. I was never so hungry in my whole life and TIRED! I had NO energy at all. I fought for the last 5 years to keep it off but it has almost all crept back on. Then I got my Flex.
For xmas hubby gave me the Aria so between the two I now have to face facts. Sitting on my backside is what's keeping the weight slowly creeping upwards.
I've started back at my local gym on the treadmill. I still haven't reached 10,000 steps in one day yet. The highest I've managed has been about 7500. My daily average when I don't do much is about 2800. So there's a slight improvement.
I also started tracking my food intake on my dashboard. That was a revelation when coupled with how much energy I'd burned during the day. It's one thing to "know" that calories and movement determine your weight. It's a whole other thing to actually see the numbers. Can't hide from THAT truth.
Anyway. I have set my goals and am aiming for 2 pounds fat loss a week. Anyone care to join me?

Would love to join the group. I will be turning 43 in a few weeks and have 30 pounds to loose. I spend to much time working and have neglected to take the time to focus on myself. I have somehow reasoned that if there is enough time to work out there is enough time to get a few more company projects done. Excuses, excuses. I bought myself a fitbit for Christmas and am committed to putting my health first in the new year. I also have arthritis in my knee and hip and have avoided activity/pain whenever possible. I am committed to pushing through it and getting the weight off which I know will help my joints as well. Charging my fitbit, can't wait to get started!

Hey Darleen, I was just browsing the FitBit forum and I realized that I know you from LE! Small world! are you still dong glass?
I am setting out to lose 50lbs this year. I could use to lose 75 but I'm keeping my goal at 50 and see how that goes first. I have been working out with a group for 3 days a week and am struggling with not wanting to go to the gym on the other days. I guess I just got to do it.
Good luck in your goal of 2 lbs a week, You can do it!

Hi ladies,
I would love to join you as well. I like the title of this group - realistic goals are important. I have about 50 pounds to lose but I would like to start with 25 pounds. I am currently working out three times a week with a trainer for 30 minutes and then swimming after for 20 minutes. My goal is to compete in a triatholon team event where I do the swimming. I am also going to start running soon to get into shape for the Mud Hero Race. I have never done any of these things before in my life. Losing weight is going to be key!

Hey all!! I JUST got my flex a few days ago. It is really opening my eyes to how much MORE I need to move. I've barely been hitting 5000 steps a day. Unacceptable. My goal is to lose 65 lbs. I am so determined now. I am signing up for a half marathon in August and I am going to be close to my goal by then. I am working on my running endurance as well as doing p90x3. I just completed my fourth day. I am super excited about p90x3 because I don't have to go to the gym, and I can just get it done at home. Plus the support I'm getting from the p90x3 community is phenomenal!!! Anyone else ever try the at home workouts? Anyone else here training for a run? I would like to connect with people that have similar goals!!

what does joining mean? Are you all connecting your fitbit profiles to share steps and such. I could use a few people on my step list. I do about 12 to 15k steps a day during the work week ( I own a lifespan fitness desk and work from home). I only have about 25 lbs left to go on my weight loss plan (lost 100 lbs last year) but could still use some people to encourage me to get more weekend steps in.

I'm sending you a friend request because I think I'll always be far behind you. 🙂 on a GOOD day (like today) I hit 12,000 steps, but the rest of my 4-day-work-week I'm only around 3-5000. I work a 12-hour office job and have an hour commute each way, so by the time I get home (and I don't own a treadmill, only a manual elliptical in my 33-degree basement) I don't want to make any more steps. I think it's incredible that you lost 100 lbs and it must feel so good to only have 25 left to go! 🙂 it's fun to see where you compare against your other friends as far as steps go, but I joined mostly for the support; everyone has at some point had the same experiences and downfalls as me, which is nice to see.

I do, I drink shakeology every day. I work the Beachbody business part time so it covers my shakeology for free every month. It's nice!! I can barely go a day without it. The training is going good. I have only done up to a 10K so far. 21 K seems really daunting but I have 8 months to train for it. I'm really excited!!! I would have to work myself up to doing a triathalon. Was never a fan of swimming!

Hang in there! Use your fitbit, and tell yourself every day that TODAY I will be kind to someone. TODAY I will use my Fitbit, and meet my goal. TODAY I can do it! Then, give yourself a big hug. Because today, I will be thinking about you, and all of us who know that TODAY, we can do it!

Good morning, Dasher here,
Iim in. I need to lose 28/30lbs, and you and the group seem to be the place to achieve this goal. I first began having issues with weight when I turned 50. I went to bed size 12 and work up size 16. None of my clothes fitted. Since then I have been battling to maintain a weight below 150 lbs. Ive joined the gym and attend twice weekly. I need to increase this to three. Since 28 December i've managed to walk the 10.000+ but am finding my ankles and hips are giving me some discomfort. But I will keep going. I look forward to both providing and receiving support from the group. Thank you. p.s. i live in North Wales U.K.

Hi, I would love to join you. I am 59 (60 in Mar) I am married, no children, just a spoiled rotten miniature schnauzer. I bought my own fitbit on Thu. I am not even hitting 2000 steps a day. I am starting to take our dog out more and try to walk a little farther each time I go out with her. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I do have arthritis in knees, hip & spines, plus diabetic neuropathy, & chronic back pain. I know if I lost the excess weight, a lot of the pain I am now, would go away or be reduced greatly. I am seeing a dietician once month. Since I started on Thu I have lost a little over 2 lbs. I am tracking everything I eat. I use myfitness pal and that syncs to fitbit. It has been a reall eye opener for me to see how many calories I have been eating and no exercising. No wonder the pounds have added up. Our school is having an "all year class reunion" in Oct. and I would like to try to go to that. I have not been to any of my school reunions because I didn't want any of my classmates to see how fat I had gotten. So that is my goal. . I currently weigh 264 lbs and I am 5'5" tall. Would like to be under 200 lbs by Oct, but I will be realistic in my goals. I just have to do the best I can every day. Good luck to all of us who are on this weight loss journey.

Though I've been losing weight since this past summer, I still have a long way to go, wanting to lose another 75 pounds or more.
I've had chronic lower back pain since a car accident in '99 as well as arthritis in my knees [especially my right knee]. The back pain has improved over the past couple months, probably due to the weight I've already lost but am still having issues with knee pain. So the knee pain does limit me to some extent.
I joined my local Y earlier this month and am taking a 75 minute water aerobics class 3 mornings per week. And just got a new Fitbit Zip on Wednesday [I had a 'One' early last winter but had issues with it and eventually got a refund]. I remember how motiviating it was having a Fitbit and I need to step things up a bit [no pun intended! 🙂 ], so I am now using the Zip.
It's going to take quite awhile before I get up to 10,000 steps per day; my first goal is to get in 5,000 steps on days I don't swim but that may take a little while before I can do that on a consistent basis. [Like today, I'll end up with a bit above 3,000 steps but Thursday I got in over 4500.]
I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone does!

Alliern, I just read your post and in some ways I felt I was reading about myself!! I got the fitbit for mysef (for my 4th birthday). As a "former" athelete and outgoing person, I dont know who I am these days. I am 60 pounds over weight and I have to give up the excuses of baby weight!! My husband, much like yours is extremely fit and healthy. I find that I can't even look in the mirror these days. I have 5 young children (ranging from 4-13) and want to stop being on the sidelines. They are very active in sports so I want to be the mom that can run around on the field with them.

That is great! I am 51, just over 5', and am trying to get back in shape; I too started at about 2-2,500 steps per day, but with being motivated to give back to the Fox Foundation, I am now up to 10,000 steps most days! Sometimes I forget to turn on the Charity Miles app, but I still feel good that most days I log at least a mile in the app. I've lost 3 pounds, and have 25 more to go. I am widowed, and have one kid still at home, plus a mess of dogs and cats!

Hi Christella. I am the same way; on the weekends I can reach my step goals but fall very short on the week days. I have an office job as well as your comute to and from work...so I sit on my butt all day and guess what I want to do when I get home from work...yes, sit! I need to find that motivation to get me moving. Good luck in your weight loss adventure. Talk to you soon.
