Shakeology and weight loss

I started using shakeology last week. Very active in walking daily), exercise and Zumba(3x weekly)/  I have recorded my food/calories intake.  My weakness is my dinner portion, trying to cut down taking carbs, but it is very hard!

My weight has been up/down- b/w 1=2 lbs losing/gains.  Any suggestion to keep losing insteads of gaining and losing it again?  I did it last time- lost 25 lbs.  Maybe this coming Spring I should be able to maintain my exercise better with my food -carb/calories much better.

I am kind of old school when it comes to eating. I find that Shakeology and the likes are too much of a fad for me. Eating real foods seems to work better. How many calories are you eating? Make sure it is enough.

Have you calculated your BMR? Eating based off that may show better results: http://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/fitness/bmr_meal_calculator.php

Thank you for the website. From the shakeology suggests my calories intake roughly 1200.  So I am on target- I know I have to cut down in carbs - like I did last time.  Just have to concentrate with more focus- hopefully I will reach my goal

1200 calories doesnt sound near enough...unless you are 5' tall and 100lbs.

I agree with Urchin - I think your calories are too low for as much activity as you get (walking, Zumba, etc.). And maybe you need to drink more water.

It's normal that your weight fluctuates, so try to weigh the same time and day every week in the same clothes (or none). A pattern will emerge.

Hang in there!

Although I know Beachbody coaches with a vested interest in its sales will beg to differ, I agree with the above: Shakeology is just expensive protein powder and other stuff that would be tasteless if they didn't add 6-7 grams of sugar per serving (35 g). Yes, up to 20% of the content is sugar, no matter how they call it "non-GMO fructose". Everyone can get their protein and micro-nutrients from real food, and if they really need a shake, they can easily make their own; instead of "non-GMO fructose", just put half-a-banana, and instead of "natural chocolate flavor", just put actual cocoa powder. If you are concerned about vitamin deficiencies, just get an inexpensive multivitamin.

Hi Yani29,

I'm wondering how your past couple of weeks have been. My initial reaction is that it sounds like your calorie intake is too low overall. I read through my Shakeology brochure, but I don't see a place where it tells us to calculate calories. If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me how you were calculating your calories based on those recommendations (either here or through a pm)?

The only other thing that immediately comes to mind is that many people who I know who've had success use Shakeology specifically in place of a meal each day. I don't want to bog down the thread, so if you'd like to know more pm me!

I join the 21 day FIX -on page 3 there is a calculation:

A} your current weight in lbs x 11total caloric baseline

B} total caloric baseline +400 (fix calori burn) = your caloric needs

C} Your caloric needs - 750 (caloric deficit)= your calorie target

Mine was below 1200- so I could go b/w 1200-1499 calorie for my meal menu

I feel totally much better combining with any the shake-not getting too hungry- I have to shock my body with a different exercise to wake up- when I did try their Cardio Dvd- it was awesome- I see the difference but my weight was not changed too much since I was so sick and not following for a week

Hopefully by next week - I will be able to go back to my shake

That makes much more sense now! I haven't tried the 21 day fix yet, but that seems like your calculation makes sense. I was thinking you got it from Shakeology, and I didn't see where to find that in my booklet. I hope that you recover quickly and are able to get back to your workout and your shakes!!

Thanks for sharing Smiley Happy
