I'd appreciate some guidance.
To loose weight I set myself a target of 1450 calories, which I'm raising to 1500 on Monday. I'm tracking the calories through MyFitnessPal . However, I'm finding that on many days, because of the type of food I'm eating, I'm not using up the calories I've allocated myself. Add to that the number of calories. I've burned and there is a large deficit!
As an example writing this MFP shows 1450 goal 971 food 671 exercise with 1155 remaining
On the face of it this seems good: less calories more weight loss. But is that the case? Having set the goal of 2 lb week weight should I be trying to eat nearer the 1450 mark? When I look at Fitbit I'm very seldom in the In Zone.

Not knowing any of your exercise history/age/height/weight information makes things harder. However i saw in another of your posts that you have in the past gotten around 12,000 to 14,000 steps in a day and tend to burn a touch less than 3000 calories in a day. If this is the case, then I would say that 1450 calories is very low and you should increase your target.
Based on the numbers that you shared in that other post (the 2900 calorie/day burn) you would need to eat 1900 calories that day to have a 1000 calorie deficit. With a deficit that large the target weight loss is 2 lbs. Sometimes though it takes a bit of tinkering to find a good spot to have as a target. I also would encourage you to slowly raise your target by 100 calories a week or so to enable your body to get used to the increase in calories.
While it may seem like a larger deficit would equal a larger loss, many times that doesn't end up being the case as your body has a minimum number of calories that it needs to function and going below that number can do dangerous things to your health. I wish you the best of luck!
