After going up and down by moderate amounts over the last year+, I have decided to use Medifast to finally get rid of the weight. I used this diet in 2007 to lose more than 60 pounds. I am now the heaviest weight I have ever been and it's time to make some serious and permanent changes. I know this diet works and works well. It is tough the first couple weeks, then you feel like you have more energy. After a few months, you can start to get bored with the routine meals, but seeing the scale go down each and every week is a great motivator. Last time I did Medifast, I don't think fitbit was in existence, but I'll be incorporating this tracking with Medifast this time around to hopefully maximize my weight loss. I will be posting updates weekly. My starting weight is 360...time to see how much I can lose in the first week 🙂

I did my own version of Nutri System and Medifast by buying my own Lean Pockets. Lean Cuisines, and Smart One's meals for a couple of weeks. It saved me a lot of money, and I could eat the foods that were more in line with what I like to eat. Once I got the weight loss stared, I weaned myself off of them and started making and creating my own low fat and low calorie meals. The low calorie meals at the grocery store are just as good as the Medi Fast and the one's in the store. The only drawback is the salt levels. But good luck with Medifast. "All of us have to do with what we feel is the best course of action to take control of our eating and overall health." I have lost 93 pounds using this method. From 271 to 177.

That's awesome! Congrats on the progress. I'm just going to medifast because I know it works for me. I like your idea about using the off the shelf options to save money. I'll probably go that route when I get to my goal weight in order to maintain the weight loss.

Day one of Medifast. I had forgotten about the unique taste of the soy-based protein in Medifast. It's not bad, just...different. I took the obligatory "before" picture this morning after getting my initial day one weight. It was a little depressing, to be honest, but I'm gonna go all Confucius here and say 'Every journey begins with the first step"

Week 1 on Medifast I lost 14 lbs. I'm at the heaviest I've ever been and I'm a guy so I'm sure that contributes to the initial loss. My last time on Medifast, the weight loss evened out to around 3 to 5 lbs a week long term. Still, losing this chunk up front has me feeling a lot better and I don't feel like I'm starving all the time. This program definitely works for me.
