Swelling of the lower leg, any Ideas?

Started my exercise program last year with more walking and stair climbing but now I am developing swelling in my lower left leg about midday each day.

Let me throw in that I and moved from being a vegetarian to a vegan and I have not eaten any type of processed food for over 8 years and I do not use very much salt in my food.

I now have to put my feet up every night to bring the swelling down. Not sure if others have this issue and if you have any other ideas for me.

May want to have your doctor look at it. There's a number of causes to swelling. Some are dangerous like leading to heart attacks.

This is something you should be talking to your doctor about. It could be a number of things, your provider will be the best place to go since they should know your health history, your medications (which some do cause swelling) things like that. Swelling can be very dangerous in the lower legs depending on what it causing it.  Online posters will just be tossing out ideas of what it could be. Best of luck to you in finding what is causing it.

His suggestion to me last week was to cut out salt and don’t eat any processed food.

That was after I gave him my food diary from the last 60 days that only contains fresh fruits and vegetables that are baked, steamed or eaten raw. I don’t go out to eat any longer because in my immediate area we do not have any good vegan restaurants and when I do I only eat a plain salad but bring my own dressing.

He was not able to find anything during his standard exam. BP is great and weight for my height is in the lower “normal” range”. Have not received the blood test back.

So over all he was not much of any help.
