Hi All!
This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome !!
We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.
So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).

So I'll start with my stats for this challenge, I'm aiming for 4lbs loss. I'm determined to stick to my healthy eating habits & exercise routine over the holidays, so as encouragement for this I have signed up for my 1st 10k race in February, so that will be... terrifying lol!
But I want to have fun this Christmas as it's our 1st in our new home & everyone is coming round ours so a few warm winter ciders here or there & a mince pie or 2 can't hurt !

This sounds like a great idea! This might be a good incentive for me to take it easy on the holiday treats 🙂 I didn't weight in this morning so I'll just start with what my weight was last Sunday. Good luck everyone! i think I will aim for a 4 pound loss.

Aim to be healthy (changing body composition- trying eating nutritious foods mostly when hungry until satisfied), measure your waist size as well in addition to how clothes fits.. it's possible to loose for example 4 pounds of fat and staying about the same weight as before or a bit higher since the weight loss been compensated with increase in muscle mass, food remnants still inside the body of previous days, possible water upkeep.. but being leaner into the tummy which the weight scale doesn't reflect instantly.
Also go by how clothes fit (becoming alot looser, needing to buy a new clothes), aside using the scale to have more measurements for progress.
When sometimes getting new clothes to fit the new you, it makes more possible to detect if possible eating 'over' and preventing possible weight gain in case the new clothes don't fit anymore (knowing to change food habits), automatically knowing to eat more salads, natural foods.. when working towards getting more leaner..
Getting rid of bigger clothes can help to (if buying a new jacket, get rid of one other jacket which became to big since gotten leaner..).. and wear the new clothes mostly to stay in check..
If needing to adjust the belt (to a higher belt hole) can also indicate to make changes. Don't give in by buying bigger clothes again, adjust habits if needed to be able to keep wearing your new clothes.. after all not wanting to loose all progress made over time by possible sneaky weight gains.. by detecting early on.
Have Fun

Thanks Sara for taking the lead on this one 🙂 So glad we keep going strong!
I just finished my first 5k and I LOVED it, looking back where I was and where I am now it's proven to me that health is so much more about how you feel and your body feels than what any scale will read. Let's work hard and keep pushing ourselves to be happier and healthier!

@awood08 No problem & congratulations on completing your first 5k!
You really hit the nail on the head there "health is so much more about how you feel and your body feels". Couldn't agree more!

USW- Ultimate Starting Weight - 112.8 kg - 1 September 2015
CSW- Current Starting Weight - 103.1 kg -26 November 2015
GW- Goal Weight - 100 kg (more likely to be 101.5 - but still hoping for the nice round number)

Not sure what happened in the last week of the last challenge. I was on my best behaviour, but managed to put a little bit back on. Lost 1.3kg last challenge though. Now to make it continue... 🙂

GW- 208 as of 1/1/2016

Hi Everybody,
I'm in. Here are my stats:
USW 184 lbs
CSW 174.4 lbs
CGW 169 lbs
UGW 164 lbs (subject to downward revision)
I need to thank everyone from our last challenge. I had a rather rough family interaction over Thanksgiving. Usually, I would have overeaten to bury the feeling. But when I found myself reaching for food I neither wanted nor needed yesterday, I thought about all your postings and the personal challenges faced by everyone from awood to viny to Jaqueline and Helen -- I could go on. Anyway, I PUT THE FOOD DOWN. Yes, that merits all caps.
Just got off the scale. Again, thanks to you guys, because I never in my wildest dreams would have attempted a weigh in the day after Thanksgiving. I weighed in yesterday morning at 174.2 -- this morning I am 174.4. Yes, yes -- I gained a mere .2 pounds!
Another little personal victory -- my Thanksgiving doggie bag included turkey, greenbeans and some gravy. I added a small scoop (about 1/2 a cup) of creamed spinach but otherwise it's the doggie bag I committed to!
I'm keeping my weight loss goal to a modest 5.6 lbs between now and New Year's Eve. I think that's realistic given the holidays.
I'm going for a walk now -- at least 30 minutes -- and commit to at least 30 minutes on my elliptical machine, some stretching and some free weights.
Thanks again, guys & have a good one today.

Good for you @dianenyc! I weighed in this morning too, but gained 1.2 pounds. 😞 My weight fluctuates and usually I wouldn't post a gain, but hope I can lose and post in a few days. Holidays are tough for diets, but there are more coming. My kids are home from college, so not just Thanksgiving dinner, but I'm cooking breakfasts too. I am trying to be reasonable and get in more exercise and still be a good Mom. Went for a 30 minute walk this morning and will go to the gym today.
Take care and Good Luck to all!
