Hi All!
This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome !!
We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.
So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).

I am several days late, but count me in. For my height and figure, this has been my highest weight and my BMI is in the obese range 😞 I have been so conscious of my figure lately especially when I can feel the folds in my stomach. I am determine to lose some of it before the New Year. Thank you for creating this challenge. I will bookmark this page, and hopefully I won't lose track.

I am new to fitbit and challenges so I am in for this one. I am trying to get gastric-bypass surgery to do that I have to loss at least 26 pounds by May 2016. I have told myself if I lose 70 pounds by then I would not need to get the surgery. Since November 14, 2015 I have lost 9 lbs. Here are my stats for this Challenge.

Hi healthyIn2016 - it looks like we share some very similar stats. I've had my fitbit since September but this is my first challenge.
I have found that Myfitnesspal is a much better app for tracking food - it would seem that a lot of people think the same. It just has so much more than the fitbit food tracker does. Personally, I would much prefer a one stop shop for everything but I guess that's just the way it goes.
Since we're (I'm?) talking about apps, another one that I'm really excited about and telling everyone about is called RockMyRun - if you like to listen to music during exercise.
Best of luck to you!

lisacaven - I am confident you can do this without surgery! I'll be rooting for you!

I'm with alc214 -- you got this. Just take it one day at a time. Keep posting -- and read the posts of people who are walking -- or running -- a similar path. There's a lot of inspiration and support in this group.

Good Morning Everyone!
Welcome to the newcomers. My first and only challenge was the Halloween to Thanksgiving challenge, and this group was so helpful to me. Good Luck to all of us in finding better health through weight loss! I'm really happy to be reporting a loss (small, but still) since Thanksgiving. This will be a tough few weeks as I expect cookies, etc., and holdiay parties will be starting soon. Thanks for the support everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!
I'm really excited to join this challenge. I did the Halloween to Thanksgiving challenge and really enjoyed how supportive and encouraging everyone was. And I learned a TON!
Every diet, exercise and fitness program seems to scream instant gratification. "Lose 20lbs in a day!" That's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point. I'm embarrased about how disappointed I was to lose ONLY 5lbs during the first Challenge. I wanted to lose more! But the truth is, that 5lbs is closer to my goal than I was before. And slow progress is better than no progress. Plus, I felt so much better about myself losing those 5lbs that I can't wait to see how I feel as I continue this journey. Let's get started!
USW- 185 lbs
CSW- 181.9 lbs (I got a little crazy during the holiday)

I'm walking 12,000 steps a day (five miles for me) and tracking my calories with MFP. I'm continouly striving to eat better. I have a horrible junk food addiction that I struggle with every day. I'm realizing that success comes from conquring a million little battles I'll be checking in on Monday mornings. Good Luck everyone!

welcome to the newbies. This is a very supportive challenge in that we all get to be healthier together and we all win. Yeah. I hit my goal of 133 lbs and then regained 3.6 lbs until Thanksgiving. Now after 2 large meals this am the scale said 138.1 so I'm back!! I hope to get back to 135 by Christmas and 133 by New Years Eve.
Okay off to make a green smoothie and get to dance rehearsal.
Wishing everyone lots of steadfastness in their quest.
And yoo hoo it is raining a little in drought strickened No. Cal.
Best to you all,
Barbara G

Thanks @saraj91 for starting up this new thread and to @awood08 for steering us through the last one.
I'm in, again. Didn't do so well over Thanksgiving, but I am hopeful that this run will be better. In two weeks I'll be driving from my home in Colorado to my middle daughter's home in northern Wyoming for Christmas. Then I'll be dogsitting while she and her family go to New Zealand for several weeks. So, it won't be as hard to stay focused since most of my temptations are here at home and with local friends.
It will be trickier to get in my steps, though, because of more ice and snow. My daughter has a stationery bike that I can use, and I'll be making trips into town, where I can also walk.
So here are my starting stats. I hope to lose at least 4 lbs. I really want to get my step count back up, because even if my weight loss bogs down that extra walking gives my energy levels such a significant boost. And @awood08, you will see I'm still struggling to get under and STAY under that 200 mark! Maybe this time is the charm. I'm going to try very hard to remember to incorporate @dianenyc's tips on savoring my food (instead of inhaling it). 🐵

Hey JacquelineP -- I know what you mean about high step counts keeping your energy up. I have become a walking fiend -- it was always my favorite exercise -- and it's given me so much energy. Usually in November (once the light goes) I want to hibernate. So it's usually two months of work, eat, sleep and very little movement. I think that's a big reason behind the weight I've gained over the past two years. Also, I went back to school and was taking classes on Saturdays -- more eating, less moving. Then I tore the cartilage in my knee -- so even less movement after that and surgery on the dang thing. I was eating frozen yogurt every day -- really bad for the figure.
It's so easy to pile it on. All we can do is put yesterday behind us and keep moving today. I always quote my old weight watcher leader: "it's not what you did, it's what you do next."
Getting the fitbit has really turned things around for me. I just walk and walk -- and stretch, of course. The great thing is that I can fit it into my day -- a staircase here, get off the bus a stop before there -- without adding another thing I have to do. My goal everyday is 13,000 steps and I'm going to commit to reaching it today.
Have a good one, everybody.
