Hi All!
This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome !!
We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.
So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).

Not my best week. As @IamRBrown says, "YUK!" I've been pretty sloppy about my eating since Thanksgiving, and I'm up 1.5 lbs. Scares me because I know how LONG it takes for me to lose 1.5 lb!
But reading encouraging and accepting messages like the one from @HelenKr helps me put it in persepective. As she did, I congratulate those who have lost, encourage those who are doing everything right and have stalled anyway--the body WILL process everything in its own good time--and I also encourage those, like me, who have just had a lapse of motivation. Today is a new day. Anyone who is part of this challenge is making an effort to improve, and success has to start there, right!
For my personal commitment today (and this coming week), icy roads and muddy trails have cleared a bit, so I'll be able to walk more. I am shooting for 10K steps today. My daily menu is already planned for the next couple of days, and that will also help.
Best wishes and good luck to all!

Hi
I didnt put my stats in when i first joined, I was a little embarrased but I am determined to get this weight off and be healthy again. About five years ago i lost 50lbs with the help of a trainer. over the last two years i have managed to gain it all back. It is harder to loose at my age, but i know i can do it.

You got this @justteri! I am not young either, but we can do it!
I took my blood pressure at CVS yesterday. It has been hovering in the prehypertensive stage, about 130/85; and it was 105/75. I couldn't believe it, so I took again and got 100/75. I've only lost 15 pounds and just cracked out of obese per BMI measurement, so I'm an example that the health benefits can start with modest improvements!
Good luck!

Hi I'm Liz and I am a little late to the challenge, but determined. I have been slowly going off track for a while and want my health and body back on track.
We can do this!

Helen,
Congrats on the healthy blood pressure and a wonderful reward for healthy changes. Lots of energy is on the way as you strengthen and lose enough to hit the BMI. I'm one of the 70+ers here and all the same accomplishment can be achieved for us too. I dance ballroom a lot and do zumba like exercise classes.
How is your blood sugar level now? I watch pre-diabetic levels receed to the normal as people lose weight and avoid high glycemic index foods.
Welcome,
B arbara G

Hi all new and older Fitbitters,
Well, down this am to 136.9 again after hitting 138.9 last week on one morning. That scared me because I wasn't eating pies and cakes and sweets. I really just can not eat a lot period at my 74 years young. I bounced off my lowest goal of 133 in September and thought it would be easy to maintain it. Not so as the weather got chilly here just north of San Francisco I started eating more food, (healthy food but more). I think my new goal of 134-135 is definitely acheiveable and maintainable if I only eat veggies, non starchy ones, late at night when I come home hungry. Although I'm in the healthy BMI range I just don't like the belly bump that fills up first and leaves last. I fit in my clothes so much better when I am 133-135 so that is my goal to stay in that range.
Well we can do this together for health and loving our body both.

Thanks for the nice message @dancefoxtrot!
My fasting blood sugar was 95 in early October - very early in my weight loss efforts. I won't be eligible for screening again until next year. I'm hoping it will be a little lower.

I've been really struggling with getting enough sleep too. Not sure what has happened but I haven't had a full nights sleep in about a week, waking up almost hourly & struggling to drift back into the land of nod. It's starting to effect my motivation but I'm still getting my exercises in, determined not to let it undo my progress. Perhaps had 1 or 2 to many treats this weekend but I was watching 'Muppet Christmas Carol'... it couldn't be helped. Lol!
I have got a lot on my mind, & although I'm really excited, I'm also nervous about Christmas, what with it being the 1st one we've hosted (got 8 people & 3 dogs in a small house! help! lol)... I don't want to mess it up, even though I know everyone will just laugh & smile anyway. There are a few other things going on which I think could also be contributing...
So my aim this week is to sleep MUCH better & try not to worry too much about stuff!
Does anyone have any tips on getting a good nights sleep?
Hope you all have fab weeks & keep up the amazing work!
