Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge 2015

Hi All!

This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome Smiley Very Happy!!

We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.

So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals! Smiley Very Happy

Wow lovely hip shrinkage for you. Isn't it encouraging to see results on the measuring tape or the scale.

Great going.

Ouch! Try aloe vera lotion on your poor feet.

Let's be careful at holiday time.

I'm fighting off a cold so I sat through most of the day yesterday and seem to be ok today.  Unfortunately, the scale said 138.3 lbs this morning whereas on Thursday it was 135.6 so that is almost a 3 lb. gain in 3 days-yuck. Today I get up and move more for sure. So far just protein based cereal and coffee and 2 figs for breakfast. Back to 135 by Wed. I hope. Well stay strong and stick to your plans,

Barb G

Also welcome new folks.

Thanks for the welcom back, JacquelineP.  Be sure you take good care of your knee -- after this summer, I ice my cranky joint down everyday and congratulations on the pound lost.  Isn't it weird how a pound lost seems to weigh so much less than a pound gained?

I have good news to report, I got on the scale this morning (despite my resolve to avoid it until next week) because I thought I actually looked okay and I've lost weight --a lot of it!  So here are my current stats:

USW: 184

CSW: 178.6  (as of last Wednesday)

CW: 172.6

GW: 169

UGW: 164 lbs (subject to downward revision)

I walked over 13,000 steps yesterday and logged my food.  I'm on track to walk at least 10,000 steps by the end of today and commit to stretching and doing five minutes with free weights (just to get back into it) and logging my food and water intake (already started).

Hope everyone is well and having a goodnight.

Hey proverbs31 -- I spent a lot of time in physical therapy this summer after having a torn meniscus repaired.  All I can say is -- it's worth it.  I think it's amazing that you're maintaining at only a two pound gain with PT and kids AND homeschooling.  I got really fat this summer and I just have me to take care of at this point.

Keep on doing what you're doing -- and stay away from Pinkberry (I swear I'm still wearing all the chocolate hazelnut froyo I ate in July).

Thanks for the encouragement dianenyc 🙂 hope you can lose your froyo weight 😉

Hi All,

Really enjoyed reading through the posts as I've had a bit of a hectic week & a half so it's nice to see all the updates with support & progress!

Had a really stressful week for a few different reasons & then some good news so I enjoyed myself at the work Christmas party a bit too much lol! Well, it was an open bar & they made very good cocktails Smiley Very Happy!

So my stats have suffered a little bit in the wake of last week, I've gained 2lbs, but hoping to get back on it this week & see some change in a more positive way. But still, feeling good & slept well last night for the 1st time in ages so starting the week in a good place! Staying focused on the progress I have made this year as opposed to what's happened this week. Smiley Happy

Hope you all have good weeks.

Where are you my dear friend? I hope that you are well. I went to your page and it show you getting too little sleep about 5 hrs and 20 minutes last night.

I haven't been coming to challenge discussion much and when I do I don't see your posts.

Hope that you are doing well.

I'm still dancing and have a new Tango video performance to share. I must say that it is aerobic.

@saraj91

I wouldn't worry about that 2 pounds. I've had a few weekends of too much drinking and always gained, then took me about a week or two to drop them back. They will come back off! And so glad to hear you had a better sleep quality! That is wonderful 🙂 I'm not sure about you but I have a very hard time keeping myself motivated throughout the day when I'm tired.

Good luck to everyone this week 🙂

Well, here we are another week in and here I am - no change...  really beginning to get on my own nerves!  4 months at the same weight & I have lowered my calorie intake by about 400 points going into this challenge...  seems my body just refuses to cooperate!

@IamRBrown - Hang in there, I have a feeling when the scale moves for you it will a big move.

Doing a quick check in.  I weigh myself every morning (which I know is not recommended), but I am ok if it goes up a little (which it has been doing here and there).  It doesn't make me crazy and gives me motivation to work harder before I undo the hard work of the past several months.  When I have a loss, I like to come report it here, so I "own" it and am working from a new low.  It's worked so far for me, but the next few weeks will really be a test as the holiday parties kick into full gear.  Anyway, another small small loss.  🙂

Thanks @awood08 Smiley Happy

Yes, I just keep reminding myself that they will gradually come back off if I stick to my food & exercise goals. Was a fun night out so totally worth it Smiley Very Happy!

I definitely slept well after the Christmas party, although I think that might have something to do with the (many) drinks lol! But have slept a bit better each night since then, really happy about this because I too struggle with motivation if I am tired. Had a couple of occasions recently where I've just had to power through the sleepiness & keep going with my jog or game of badminton, in the moment it is tough but afterwards I feel great!

Hope you're having a good week Smiley Happy

Thanks so much @IamRBrown for the add and the encouragement.  I had to go out of town over the weekend and was unable to get my steps in.  I spent most of the time in a car and eating on the go.  I don't think I did too bad with the eating, so I guess that is a plus.  Mondays are always a good day for me to get my steps as I have a class at the gym right after work.

Thanks again!!!

I can't see your video. It say Private. Woman Sad

It's a tad late for me to start with the group. But I will join if there's another challenge in January. I have a lot to lose and need as much help as I can. I do have Heart Failure so not able to do too much at a time. I'm lucky if I make it to 5,000 steps in a day. 😞
