Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge 2015

Hi All!

This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome Smiley Very Happy!!

We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.

So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals! Smiley Very Happy

Hi Everyone!! I was excited to see that my hard has paid off this week.  I got my steps up and made 10,000 steps 3 days this week.  I feel great!!!  I am hoping to continue moving and working hard to acheive my weight loss goals.  However, I know that next week is Christmas and with that comes so much delicious food.  I will be making some candy and cookies for tomorrow for all the festivities.  I pray that I show restraint and not eat too many!!  I know that all is good in moderation.

Today was the first morning I've woken up and felt somewhat alive. Literally, they need to rename the flu virus I had to the death plague because that is what it felt like! I hope no one else comes down with anything like this because it was brutal. Luckily I had already taken Friday off so I didn't have to call into work again. Hope everyone is having a great weekend 🙂 So excited we have less than a week till Christmas! My babies are going to be so happy, we had a very good year and were able to do extra for everyone this year which makes me feel great to give!

I of course lost some weight from being so sick but I expect that number to go back up a little once my body gets use to eating food again, which is no problem. Rather the scale be up than my head be down in a toilet! lol

USW- Ultimate Starting Weight - 112.8 kg - 1 September 2015

CSW- Current Starting Weight - 103.1 kg -26 November 2015

GW- Goal Weight - 100 kg  (more likely to be 101.5 - but still hoping for the nice round number)

UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight - aiming for 80 kg at the moment

Not sure what happened in the last week of the last challenge. I was on my best behaviour, but managed to put a little bit back on.  Lost 1.3kg last challenge though.  Now to make it continue... 🙂

One week in - 5 December 2015- down to 102.8, only 0.3,, but it's still down.

Two weeks in - 13 December 2015 - went up to 103.9 - so +0.8 for the challenge..   😞

Nearly 3 weeks in - 17 December 2015 - down to 102.3 Yay!  Discovered that most of the weight I put on while on holidays must have been water.  🙂  So overall down 0.8 kg  for the challenge now  🙂

Three weeks in - 20 December 2015 - down to 101.9.   The lowest I have been in around 10 years 🙂  Down 1.2kg for challenge now.  Christmas goal of 101.5 seems achievable  🙂

Well, I haven't lost any weight this week however, I haven't gained any.  Steady at 146 and that is greaat news for me since we've been on the road driving cross country for the past 6 days.  I've discovered mall walking, hotel gyms and salads for dinner.  We've also been eating air-popped popcorn as car snacks.  I'm sure the hotel workers look twice at us as we haul our airpopper into the hotels.

keep recovering and drink fluids like water  and herbal teas when you can so you don't get dihydrated.

You have company as I have a nasty cold and cough for days now though nothing as bad as the nasty flu.

It is a good excuse to put my feet up and watch PBS shows. Just saw a show of beautiful monkeys in the Himilayas. The little orphan monkeys survived and some of the other monkey families showed kindness to him.

Ahhh.

Weight is up at 138. this morning and at 21.6 BMI so it is a normal weight range but I want to go back down to 135.  I will be patient as my body is bouncing from 136 to 138.8. Yesterday morning I was 137.5. With this cold and cough and pouring rain I'm not burning much as I was.

Take care all and keep eating wisely,

Barb G

Hi All,

Checking in for the week.  First, awood, I hope you're feeling better.  Here are my numbers:

USW 184

CSW 172.6

CW 172.6

GW 169

UGW 164 (subject to downward revision)

Had a down day today -- the kind of day where I just wanted to sleep and eat.  I had friends up for dinner last night.  A great party.  Didn't overeat -- stayed away from the bread and had two glasses of wine and a piece of pastry.  Okay.  Not bad.  But I stayed up till close to midnight cleaning up the dishes and putting things back in order.  My knee was hurting (I stopped my PT stretches when I got sick a couple of weeks ago and have had a hard time getting back to it) and I was just tired when I got up today.  Mass, breakfast with friends and some Christmas shopping online, a couple of neighbors dropping in-- and before I know it I'm eating toasted italian bread with mozzerella for dinner.

Okay, so I gave the rest of the loaf to one of my neighbors (sent the pastries home with my brother and sister-in-law last night, so no temptation there) and got online to log my weight (no gain/no loss) and then to log here.

Resolved to get back on track tomorrow.

I'm joining this challange forum late, but I got my first fitbit the day after Thanksgiving and have lost 4 lb so far.   My goal is to lose 32 more lbs by April/May, and so for the next two weeks I'd like to lose about 3 more pounds.  But I haven't been on the scale in the past week because I also caught the nasty cold/sinus infection that's going around!! And so my activity level is down.  Also I have blown my calories out of the water the last 2 days because, well it's Christmas and we celebrated in our immediate family this weekend.  So hopefully for the next 3 days I can get some activity logged and continue to purge myself of this cold virus.

It's great to see other people trying to lose weight and stay on track during the holidays.  Knowing you're trying will help me want to stay on track.

Ok...so I'd be lying if I said the past week were easy...kids got out of school...Xmas party or treat at every corner and my exercise routine has been tossed to the side. Might try to play tennis but probably too cold for kids to hangout on playground. Supposed to rain all week too which makes getting steps in harder. Gained 1.5lbs and afraid I might gain a few more bc of holidays and family wedding January 2nd. Gotta be strong and put game face on. Be strong until the end of 2015 and then turn 2016 into another fab year.

Good morning all!

Looks like there has been some great progress lately & I hope all those that are suffering with illness & aches & pains are feeling better in time for the holidays!

Hope you all had good weekends, I'm checking in with my stats from the last week or so. I've tried to be careful with my food whilst not stopping myself from enjoying the festivities. I had a lovely night out with my husband on Thursday, we went to a brilliant burger restaurant & saw the new Star Wars film (no spoilers - it was amazing!), so that was our own little Christmas meal. Had a nice weekend with family & managed to get my Parkrun in on Saturday morning as well as all my other exercises for the week so feel like I worked harder this week than last week for sure.

I was determined to shift some of the weight gained last week & was really pleased to see progress when I hopped on the scales. I've hit my goal weight for this challenge... yay!! Smiley Very Happy So my aim now is to maintain over Christmas & New Year & have fun.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! Will hopefully check in again between Christmas & the new year! Smiley Happy
