Hi All!
This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome !!
We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.
So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight
CSW- Current Starting Weight
GW- Goal Weight
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight
PW- Previous Weight

Ok...so my CW is still 207...I waited 1 1/2 days to post update because on Monday my weight would've showed an increase, which I was sad to see but knew in my heart, I had splurged a little with the Holiday Spirits on Saturday, which in turn caused me to need a few french fries on Sunday to recover! It has been over 2 months since I've had fast food and boy did I enjoy it on Sunday BUT I could certainly feel the sodium in my body and realized it wasn't worth it! Sleep is an area I need to improve as I am a night owl once my kids/hubby go to bed. I guess I just enjoy the calm after the storm of homework, kids, dinner and chaos. My husband gave me my Fitbit last month per my request and it's been such a great addition and tool to monitor my activty and focus on moving throughout the day. Over the past couple of months, I've lost almost 30lbs and feel great but know I have quite a few lbs to let go. I play tennis several times a week, walk my hood, joined a gym and walk various parks for a change of scenery. I stay motivated because I have a competitve spirit and love to beat my friends and family in daily steps. Shopping has also kept me interested. I've been able to slowly start shopping again in the regular women's department for tops and some pants however, due to my pear shape, shopping in women's sizes are still a must for some clothes. I also enjoy reading other posts from ya'll sharing your ups and downs. It's a great way to be reminded I'm not alone. Success and better health can be achieved no matter the ups and downs. Being consistent is key! Thanks! Looking forward to posting a little loss next week to get closer to my NYE goal!

I started my journey on November 18 at 268.8 lbs yesterday I weighed in at 257.4. My goal by the New year was to get to at least 255. I just might make it. I threw my back out so the whole exercise thing is out. Any suggestions out there.

2 week check in.
SW: 150
CW: 146.8
My weight has been bouncing around between 147.6 and 146 for the past week. The scary thing is that we just started a Christmas road trip. The first 5 days with my folks. Of course, Mom always wants me to eat. Then it will be several days of traveling cross country (San Diego to Tennessee) restaurants etc. followed by a week in a condo with kids and their spouses. Its the first family Christmas in 9 years. They gave me a list of their favorite foods to cook. Then the trip back home to Las Vegas with more restaurants. I'm having trouble losing even a little bit with controlled eating. How do I manage hours sitting in a car with limited exercise and restaurant food? Help please.

My first check in. I started this off pretty poorly. Seemed like I had a business lunch or family dinner every other day. I bounced between my USW and CSW for almost two weeks. But have got things back in order now.

At the start of this week I was not doing so well. I was upset because I had gained some weight over the weekend. I have been really watching what I eat and exercising. Tracking EVERYTHING I eat is helping me stay on track. So 4 days in to the week and here are my stats!

CSW: 154.3
CW: 153.9 (starting weight at the beggining of this week was 155.9)

ok so far so good, the fitbit has really kept me focused and on track finally. During the week i seem to be down (cant get over terrible habit of checking the scale every day) but the weekend comes and the scale goes up. I will do my" official" weigh in on sunday and see where I am at. Because of the fitbit i am now obsessed with hitting 10,000steps per day, or no less the 6000. I am trying to walk more and get to the gym on a regular basis. It is a work in progress. Sunday i will update stats. I like the support and suggestions they have been very helpful.

So far, so good. Of course, the DW made Peanut Butter Buckeyes and Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies yesterday in celebration of the holiday season, so it's time to ramp up my willpower. I had room in yesterday's budget for a couple of Buckeyes, and I'll manage to fit in a couple of cookies today somewhere. 🙂 I just have to keep repeating my mantra "I Shall Not Binge, I Shall Not Binge!"

I am in need of some motivation to keep me moving. After working every day in a stressful environment sitting at a desk, I find it very difficult to "feel" like going to the gym or for a walk. I really just want to go home and sit in front of that mind control box!! LOL! Does anyone else stuggle with this? Any tips are appreciated!! I also am looking for Fitbit Friends, so if you are willing....please send me a message. I would be most grateful!!!!
As far as eating, I must say that something has clicked with my tastebuds. Not having the cravings for those sugary things that are devil. It's weird and good all at the same time. I actually am feeling better and have a bit more energy. Here are my stats for the week. I actually gained 2 lbs. and of course feeling discourged. I must say I love my Aria scale which also shows body fat. Because although my weight went up, my body fat has gone down. So I guess it is still a win!

I can sympathize with the stressful job. I am a quality engineer and do mostly desk work, but I've started making it a point to take the long way to anywhere I have to go away from my desk... also, join some challenges - they have helped me a LOT.
I'm now consistently getting 5000+ steps a day. I am setting a new goal as of Jan 1 to hit 7000+ a day. Weekends are harder - I have grandbabies every other weekend & take my 90 year old aunt shopping on the weekends I don't have the littles, so I usually am lucky to get the 5000 on weekends.
Good luck & add me if you want.

@IamRBrown Software Quality Assurance here. It's a desk job, but the company cafeteria is a couple blocks away, so I take the long way around to get some extra exercise at lunch.
