Hi All!
This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome !!
We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.
So, enjoy being part of the group & have fun working towards your goals!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight
CSW- Current Starting Weight
GW- Goal Weight
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight

Thanks, Helen. I think it's lovely that your kids are home from college -- and I wholeheartedly support you in going for a long walk and hitting the gym. I predict from reading your posts that you'll get through the holidays just fine. I don't think any of us are going to lose massive amounts of weight over the next month or so -- but if we lose a little instead of gaining over Christmas and New Year's, we'll be well place to take advantage of spring/summer walking weather.

Hi All,
Here are my stats for the week:
USW 184
CSW 174.6
CW 173.4
GW 169
UGW 164 (subject to downward revision)
I actually lost weight over Thanksgiving and my NYE goal weight of 169 seems emminently doable. I'm tempted to lower it to 167-168 lbs -- have to give it some thought. Right now I'm just going to enjoy being lighter.

I've had my fitbit since February and this is the first time I've read the discussion posts. I've never done a challenge before so this seems fun. I am one of those people who definitely need motivation to keep going to the gym. I'm a bit ashamed of my starting numbers but here we go...
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight 193 lbs
CSW- Current Starting Weight 189 lbs
GW- Goal Weight 179 lbs
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight 135 lbs

Good Luck @ruen137! I'm ashamed of my numbers too, but we're working on getting healthier, and that I think is the important thing. I found this group to be very helpful and supportive in Halloween to Thanksgiving challenge.

Hi @ruen137 - nothing to be ashamed of. There are plenty of us here with higher figures than yours. You should be congratulated for taking charge at a time before things got completely out of control 🙂

A big welcome to all the 1st time challengers! Hope you find this group to be a good motivator & all the best in working towards your goals!
@kmme good to see you back on the message boards, hope you had a good thanksgiving & congrats on the 8lbs loss, that's amazing work! Good luck for this challenge, your so close to your UGW!
@ruen137 & @HelenKr don't be ashamed, we all start somewhere & as you say Helen, your working towards being healthier & that's more than a lot of people do!
So this morning I returned to Park Run, it's a free timed 5km run round my local park which FitBit sponsors. I think they have Park Runs all over the world now & they are a really great way to get some exercise in at the weekend. I hand't been to the Park Run since September as we have had a lot of busy weekends since then (a lot of family birthdays in Oct & a trip to Cornwall), plus it rains a lot in the UK so sometimes a 9am run in the rain on a Saturday morning isn't the most appealing thing in the world lol! Although it was sunny this morning I think it's fair to say the course was a bit squelchy underfoot so that made for an interesting 'run' lol, managed to push a bit harder when the course got on the pavement but still it was slower going but running with the other Park Runners was fun, it was good to be back.
Hope you're all having lovely weekends!

This looks like a great opportunity. I bought my fitbit back in September and am sad to say I haven't used it as well as I should. Hoping this will give me some motivation to work a little harder.
