Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge 2015

Hi All! 

 

This is the Thanksgiving to New Years Eve Challenge... Welcome Smiley Very Happy!!

 

We'll begin on Thanksgiving, November 26th and finish on New Years Eve, December 31st. This gives us 5 weeks for this challenge so set your goals accordingly & don't worry if you don't hit them, it's not all about the numbers, it's about how you feel about your own health & being part of a fun, supportive group. 

 

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has proven to be so supportive the last 2 challenges I've been a part of so I hope you find it just as great to be a part of as well.

A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new (thanks @awood08 for this list from the last challenge).

I just got my Fitbit last weekend and I'm late but I still want to do this challenge. So far I'm loving racking up the steps and it seems to be doing me some good, already. I would like to lose 3-4 pounds by New Year's Eve. I'm a 62-year-old woman and cannot lose weight fast.

Just got my Fitbit last weekend and I've done six good days of walking and it's already making me feel so much better! I'm a 62 yo woman who cannot lose weight fast. I'd be thrilled to lose 3-4 lbs. by New a Year's. There will have to be *some* feasting of course, like on Christmas Day! But I'm looking forward to racking up those steps and eating healthy for the next 4-5 weeks.

Not a great first week. A two pound gain. Puzzling bc I'm not eating overly unhealthy (1200 cals/day give or take 100) and I burn around 400 cals. Maybe I'm not having enough cals? Wish I could take my hubbys job as a mail carrier for a month- he burns so much walking around, he can eat whatever he wants and not gain 😬 I'm trying not to let the scale upset me because even though I've gained 15 pounds this year, I haven't gone up a size in clothes at all so I'm hoping some of that weight is muscle. Time to starr another week!

Try not to get discouraged i know it's hard when you are doing everything "right" but sometimes it is unexplicable , just keep with it and it will come off. My body stalls for weeks at a time , then it will rapidly lose 5 pounds randomly. Don't give up.

Good morning everyone!

 

So tonight we have a party with the colleagues, first reception then restaurant and then dancing! Very nice, but very difficult to keep your calories in order. Any suggestions how to tackle this?
I took my “skinny” breakfast this morning, which is oatmeal with soymilk and some brown sugar and I have my protein shake and some fruit for lunch. So I can spare like 1000kcal for the evening, but going out to eat and alcohol….


I live in Belgium and as we are famous for our chocolate we even have a special day for it. It’s called: “Sinterklaas”, which is like Santa, an old man coming in the night with toys and lots of chocolate for the children. Since my daughter is 2years old it will be her first Sinterklaas and after the good old man passed by our house we will go to the grandparents, where I’m sure he visited too. Yes I know, chocolate is for the children, but it will be very hard for me not to enjoy some Smiley Happy.


Yesterday I had a terrible day at work and I didn’t get around to going for sport during the lunch break. So I got home with less than 4000 steps Smiley Sad, luckily my niece called so I put on my shoes and coat and walked around the street chatting the whole time Smiley Happy, got my 10 000 steps and some weird looks from the neighbors Smiley Very Happy!

 Week 1 of the new challenge complete , i am happy to say i finally broke a two week plateau and the scale is moving again:) Down 1.6 not a lot but i will take it. Have really increased my weight lifting , although cardio has suffered a little as i am trying to fit everything in. I was beginning to get a little of that skinny fat look , if you know what i mean , so need to build a little muscle. I am also on day 6 of the 30 day squat challenge , 80 squats today:) Here are the numbers

Oh my goodness! I think we need a "Sinterklaas" here in America! My husband would love that holiday 🙂 I say enjoy but don't over-indulge. On those days when my sweet tooth kicks in I will set aside a serving of sweets (M&Ms. Lindt chocolates...whatever) and put it in a container so I won't eat more than I should. I find that when I allow myself that serving then I have better control over sweets compared to when I try to deprive myself completely.

yuck... end of week one... up 2 lbs...  I am determined, tho.  I have created my own calorie/exercise tracking spreadsheet & am working to adjust the intake per my metabolism - that part is a work in progress...  Here are the stats for this week tho... maybe next week I can report progress in the RIGHT direction!

oh, no, Easter, Halloween & Christmas are bad enough!  I'd be as big as my house before long if we another day dedicated to chocolate...  most of the time, I can leave chocolate alone, but there are times...  lol...

@proverbs31I've found that having some sugar free jolly ranchers or something similar helps out with my occaisional sweet tooth.  Go easy on them though, because over-indulgence can have....gassious....effects that could clear out a football locker room or strip the varnish off a footlocker.

Congrats to those showing loss.   Hang in there those who have gained.  If you are doing the right thing then it is a blip and it will go down, probably with a big drop to give you a big smile!  (Here's hoping :))  And if you had a tough week, today is a new day.

Hey to all. My last challenge wasn't as productive as I wanted but it's all good. I'm going to try not to be as hard on myself if I can't get to gym or eat as right as I should. But I am still holding myself so accountable.
