Did you mean:

To oatmeal or not to oatmeal

ANSWERED

Hi all,

First I read that oatmeal shouldn't be eaten when trying to lose weight because it's super high in carbs.  This of course, will cause you to have sugar cravings which will make you eat more.

Then I read that it's packed with fiber, fills you, and is great for weight loss.

Any idea what the answer is?

Hi,

When my doctor sent me to a dietician several years ago for some weight loss advice, she recommended oatmeal as a breakfast food (of course, I was either skipping or eating poptarts for breakfast at the time).  I have eaten oatmeal most mornings since.  It fills me up for the morning, and I think it has helped with my cholesterol issues as well.

I eat oatmeal daily, and for me it doesn't cause me to have sugar cravings.  I combine it with 1/3 - 1/2 cup of fresh berries, it fills me up and I'm not hungry until lunch.  It is high in fiber, which is great for you, and it helps reduce cholesterol.
