To start out small or shoot big?

ANSWERED

Hi everyone!

A little background I am 25, 5 foot 3 and started out at 235 pounds on June 16th. I am now down to 218 and still working hard. My original goal was to lose 55 lbs and get back to my pre baby weight (I have 2 kids ages 6 & 2). But my final goal is to be 150 lbs. I'm doing so well on this goal right now I don't want to change up my weight loss goal so that the clock resets and it seems so much further away. I don't have a deadline or time frame to get the weight off. I just like seeing results.

Any advice if I should shoot for my total goal weight or stick with my short term goal then start for the final when i'm through?

Thanks 🙂

I myself have always made small goals. They seem to be more attainable to me

Regardless oif short or long term goals work for you,  I would advised that the goal follow the SMART method.  Make your goal Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Time bound.

Thank you both. I appreciate your input. I'm going to stick with my current goal of 55 lbs and set to acheive that in by November 7th (big family party).

Thanks again!

I think it's ok to have one big goal as long as you set smaller goals along the way and reward yourself when you make them.

You should shoot for a healthy weight as your body allows. It took me 4 years to lose 125 pounds.  I would like to lose maybe 10-12 more pounds.  It just takes times.

I think you have a great goal. I am 6'1" and my normal weight is 150-165 range. Unless you are pure muscle, why not go for the healthy range?

Thank you, I was a very active athlete in high school. Softball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, you name it, I played it. At my heaviest in high school I was 175, but that heaviest weight was my healthiest weight. I felt incredible, looked great physically. I have very large thigh muscles & legs and very wide hips, always have. I've always been ever since I was a young teen at least 20 lbs over my "recommended weight" but not one doctor has ever mentioned that I needed to lose a few. I think once I hit the mark at 180 I can see how much more I can stand to lose or if i'm happy where i'm at. 🙂

Good luck with your weight loss!
