Trying to lose 16kg/35 pounds, looking for support. 20, F.

Hello everyone,

I'm a relatively new Fitbit user who is tackling a more active lifestyle with some gym work thrown in, as I've finally realized I don't look that nice any longer. I am studying full time and juggling a part time job, too.

I put on a lot of weight when I started using the contraceptive pill about a year ago and it's getting me down. I'm usually 55 kilograms when I'm healthy but right now I'm sitting at about 80 kilograms. I've gone up roughly 2 dress sizes, soon to be 3 if I don't slim down. Not keen on buying a whole new wardrobe.

I am going to the gym most nights per week for an hour or more. Half an hour on a treadmill, weights for my arms, and doing leg work as well. I am walking a lot more than I used to.

My overall problem is food. If my boyfriend comes home with Doritos, I will eat them too. Same with carbonated drinks. Dinners are not terrifically healthy unless I make them myself. I am guilty of buying fast food when I'm out because "I don't have time to make something".

I have been making myself green smoothies (spinach or kale, a banana, some other fruit thrown in) to have for lunch and watching my portion sizes, but the overall feeling of hunger stresses me out and ruins my concentration at college or work so I end up buying food while I'm out or caving when I see sugary things. I am also rapidly running out of ideas for other simple, quick food.

I feel like I don't look like myself any longer and while I have started moving towards a healthier lifestyle, I seem to be going one step forward and two steps back all the time.

One positive is that a dress I couldn't fit into 2 weeks ago is now wearable again. Still tight, but wearable, whereas I couldn't even zip it up before. It is progress but I am looking for more dramatic results to come.

Does anyone have tips on how to better regulate meals or what good options would be for healthy food on the go? Also any stories and experience on weight loss of this magnitude from someone else would be greatly encouraging.

Thank you for reading my big blurb. 🙂

making sure that you have healthy snacks handy is very important. i struggle with this too. keeping snacks in ziplock baggies and putting them in your car or your purse is a great way to make sure you have something healthy when you catch yourself being hungry. things like fruits and nuts are great for that. even pretzles are better then that bag of doritos. 😉 or adding a protein suppliment to your shakes will help you stay fuller longer. hope this helps! keep up the good work
