One thing that I started almost two weeks ago is the Ketogenic diet. It is not a fad or flash in the pan. It has origins in the Paleo diet (think caveman) and is geared toward changing our thinking about food and eating back to before consumerism and processed food ruled our lives. Basically, as the world population grew, mass production of food that could be stored and eaten later was the logical thing to do. Salt, preservative chemicals and cheap to manufacture methods took over. Well, as you can see, our complacency with being unhealthy, going to the doctor, and having health problems is catching up with us. We wonder why cancer, internal organ failure, allergies, and all the other negative health issues are so prevelent. The media is reporting about these things more (bad news creates drama and more readers/viewers), but it is actually a problem which has reached levels we should not want.
The benefits of changing the way we eat can initially be a challenge with all of the other things going on and continued negative influences but taking some educated steps can really help. Once you start feeling better, and see the changes to attitude, body function and brain function you will want to do even more to get you where you want to be.
To be honest, it is really easy to cheat on this and eat some of the things that are not good for you. You do have to deal with the feelings you get from doing this but that will also subside once you have the good foods in front of you in your reach.
One thing that really helps is to have a supportive family and encouraging group of people around you. You can educate them on what benefits they will see in you and in themselves if they are also trying the ways of eating you are experiencing. It becomes really fun to go out to restaurants and ask for modifications that help with everyones eating patterns.

Life will always get in the way. You need to make up your mind and just do it. You are the only one that can do it.
Plan your days and stick to it.

We can always find a reason not to eat well or exercise. You need to trick yourself. When you talk yourself out of exercising talk back and commit to just 5 or 10 minutes. You WILL do longer. When you want the not so good food, thats ok just have a little then go back to good eating. With food and a busy schedule you Must plan ahead. Find a fewt hings you are comfortable with and stick with them for a week ot two. You will find yourself expanding meal ideas as you get comfotable. Most importantly dont give up. Small steps. Each week think of one thing you can do to improve over last week. Good luck and be patient. It is not easy.

Life will happen in spite of us, and we must deal with it. When you say that "eating well and exercise seem to be non existent", that is a choice, not a fact. The busiest people in the world find time to eat healthy. Exercise can be part of daily work activites, if we choose to do them - it does not have to be a dedicated time at the gym to exercise.
Make a Plan, and Work the Plan! A goal without a plan to accomplish it is just a wish and nothing more.

I feel for you, I really do. I have been very lucky to have unwavering support from my husband while I was working on me. we decided together that this was what I had to do and I did it. I changed everything about the way I eat and move. It wasn't always easy or fun, but so worth it. Now its life. It started with never buying lunch. went to making smart lunch choices. to changing breakfast options, snack options and finally dinner. I cook two - one for me, one for them. to me its worth it. once in a while they get curious about what mom has and we all eat the same. my son lost over 20 pounds being curious about what mom has. he is 12. I work and run the house and have two kids. if something has to give, its not ever my nutrition or workout. it has become such a habit, it takes no time and very little effort. you will get there- you just have to make up your mind that you are the priority.
