Valentines Day to Easter Challenge 2016

Welcome to the next challenge! Smiley Very Happy

This one will run from Valentines day to Easter, so from February 14th to March 27th. Everyone and anyone can join this challenge in which we all set our own weight loss goals, this gives us 7 weeks in total to work towards them! Smiley Happy

This group of lovely people provides encouraging support and words of advice as we all share our experiences, good and bad. It has proved beyond helpful to myself and many others as we become healthier and achieve amazing things.

To be part of the challenge you start by posting your initial weight stats and what you would like to achieve by the end of the challenge. You can then check in as often as you'd like with a weight update, to share a story from your week or start a conversation about a topic you'd like some advice on.

So excited for us to keep working towards our goals with the fantastic friends from the last challenges and a big 'Hello!' to all the challenge newbies! Smiley Very Happy

Thank you @awood08 for kicking off the last challenge! Smiley Very Happy

I agree about motivators.I got my fitbit Valentine's Day and check my food constantly to see if it will take me over before I eat it.Never in my life done that before.Also in just 3 weeks my resting heart rate has gone from 74 to 67. So thrilled! Love the challenges with friends to keep me motivated also

I had to stay away from the gym since last Wednesday since getting my tattoo, I thought for sure I was going to struggle with minimal workouts at home and having a "break" for almost a week. I went back yesterday for my BodyAttack class which kicked my butt but felt AMAZING. I never thought I'd miss the gym as much as I have. My nutrition has been my main focus, I have been very strict with my food intake since I know I had to compensate for the workouts. I cannot believe I actually dropped 4 pounds!!! I haven't seen a loss this big since probably November!!! I'm happy with how I look, how I feel, so I am easing up. My clothes are getting baggy and I don't want to get much smaller. This is my ideal size so I just have to focus on maintaining.

Good for you in making it this far. Did you land in the healthy BMI range now?

You have worked hard and supported others along the way. Great news.

@HelenKr

You can figure your BMI sooo easily online. Search bmi calculator and click on a link and just enter height and weight and voila you see your BMI and where it is in the healthy or overweight or obese range.

A good scale from Costco is about 30 bucks.

Sigh. 😟 According to MFP, I should have lost 1#; according to Fitbit, a half pound. Instead, I gain!! Time to look into my TDEE, I guess. I've read that MFP over compensates for calories burned sent to it from Fitbit. Maybe I should disconnect the 2? I really like logging my calorie intake on MFP and having those numbers show on the Fitbit app, though.

@DJRMel

Great and crazy fluctuations do occur in the process unfortunately.  Eating under the allowed cal. might be smart. Remember to eat healthy fats like nuts, salmon and avocados and low refined starchy carbs.

I got down to 140.3 on Sunday and today my nasty scale said 142.3. I don't like these reversal but overall the trend is back down again. 8 more lbs. to go by Easter so if I hit some loss I'll feel better.

All the best,

Barb G

@dancefoxtrot

Thanks for the encouragement! It's very true to focus on the trend and not just the latest data point. I'm still in a better place than 6 months ago and longer, and I need to remember that.

I eat whole foods about 90% of the time, but I wouldn't be surprised that the last 10% is having a negative impact. I'm just not ready to give up the occasional salty treat (factored into daily numbers, of course).

Thank you all so much! You guys have been a big inspiration to me, seeing your determination week to week definitely keeps me accountable 🙂

@dancefoxtrot

I'm large frame so considering my height and weight, my BMI is 26.2 body fat is 25%. I'm pretty close to the healthy range so I'm just going to focus on building muscle, and shedding a few more pounds over time. Not as rigorous as when I started.

Weigh-in Wednesday made it down 3 lbs this past week. It's been crazy busy at work this weekend so I burned almost 3000 calories every day. Im super excited to have made it this far. The closest I've gotten to my goal weight is 163 so I'm super close to getting under that.

Here we go... time for me to check in.  I haven't checked in since 2/24...  That's ok, tho - I've been watching my scales daily.

I will have the grandbabies again this weekend and girl scouts cookie booths this weekend (I have my granddaughter in girl scouts).  We will be running and I probably won't have a lot of time for cooking...  "baby" weekends are hard on my waist line!  I hope to keep the progress I've made so far this week in place tho!

I went in for a podiatrist appt to get my toes looked at. I've suffered from ingrown toenails since I was a teenager. I always have cut them out myself or gotten pedicures and have them take care of it. They have never gotten bad. In the past couple months however they have gotten progressively worse. I was in so much pain after my workout Tuesday I had to be seen. I went in yesterday and the doctor decided to have it removed and permanently burned at the cuticle. So now I'm down another two weeks for this toe to heal 😞 I'm disappointed because with my toe being out of commission there is no way for me to run, use the elliptical, or any cardio involving feet. My doctor was clear, no pressure on my toe for at least two weeks. So I'm going to have to rely on at home strength and core workouts. And then after my two week is up I'm out another two weeks for the other toe since they are both bad. I'm really upset 😞

Sorry if I sound like I'm complaining, I just worked so hard and I'm so afraid I'm going to lose a lot of my hard work in the next month with these surgeries!

Well I did not fair as well as I was hoping.  In fact, I am showing a gain this week.  But the week kind of fell apart - didn't get nearly enough steps in the last 3 days and I just realized MFP was giving me more  "exercise" points everytime I synced and I was actually eating more calories then I wanted.  I want to stay around 1200 daily food calories. I can't turn that feature off unless I go premium on MFP.  So I have decided to only sync right before bed or 1st thing in the morning.  I'm still not going to beat myself up from it - live & learn - and it's only a 0.6 # gain (thankfully!)  Here's to a new week #KeepMovingForward!

So here are my stats this week:

CSW - 217.6 (Feb 11)
W1 - 216.4 (Feb 18 {-1.2#})
W2 - 216.2 (Feb 25 {-0.2#})
W3 - 213.0 (Mar 3 {-3.2#})
W4 - 213.6 (Mar 10 {+0.6#})
CGW - 209 (5% loss)

@awood08 Hang in there gurlie!  Just be very aware of what you are consuming during this down time.  In the long run, taking care of your toe issues now will reap you many pain free days ahead!!  Smiley Very Happy  How awesome will that be?!!!
