Victoza

I am taking Victoza 2.4 because I am insulin resistant. Dr says I have to have a low fasting blood sugar to loose weight.   Several times I got low blood sugar where I measured it and it was around 63. I carry two juice boxes just in case.

@vivace  Good for you!  I have been diabetic (Type 2) for over 20 years.  I still take metformin but there are so many new meds on the market right now that I'm sure victoza is a better fit for you.  There is a thread here where a lot of us type 2 diabetics get together and chat.  I invite you to join us.  We all share information that may be helpful to you!  Here is the thread:

Any diabetics using the FB?

I have also being taking victoza.  i am borderline diabetic.   family history.   but it has caused me to lose  almost 40 pounds with little effort.   I was told it is because the food stays in your stomach longer and thus you are not hungry.   i have always watched what I eat  and exercise  daily  so  this loss was a surprise .  a great one .

I'm also taking Victoza. Since starting the med, I've lost 25 pounds in three months.Still working on it, because I have more than 100 to go.

I am prediabetic but I have almost never lost weight over the last twenty years.  I have High IgE syndrome and the steroid use has a lot to do with my blood sugar.  Recently I have lost 4 pounds. I have walked 1800 miles according to FB since last July. I go to a gym and I do gentler exercise at home.  I think there is no corner of the conundrum of weight loss that I have not mined.

Yes it is tough.  I lost 100 pounds, but I have 50 more to go.  It gets so tiring!  The fitbit is helping me get more active though.  Hooray! And I think tracking what you eat helps too.  Being diabetic the only thing I wish my fitbit did was track and chart blood sugars.  Life would be so much easier!

My doctor uses the A1C measure but I follow my morning wake up blood sugar which is usually around 84. Then I weigh myself with my usual scale. Aerobic exercise lowers it.

You are 2/3 of the way to your weight goal. With a normal bg level of 84 you are doing super. Tiring, yes, but the best and healthiest game in town. You can record your bg in just a few seconds flat anyway. Keep up the good work. You will gain more energy as you lose more weight as you have less to carry around with each step you take.

Best,

if you reduce refined carbs and sugar and exercise you might get back into the normal bg range over time.
