Good news, I have lost 4.5 lbs in the past 2 weeks, so in 1 month I have lost of total of 19.5 lbs. I need to keep this up and now evermore when my steps are lower in number and make excuses (hahaha) to get up and walk more. My knee is hurting but the orthapedic surgeon says I'm not a candidate for surgery until I'm 60 or my knee deterriorates more.
I received a letter from my HMO (Kaiser) yesterday telling my I have a severe Vit D. Deficiency in which I am to take prescribed Vit D and otc Vit D 3x a day plus calcium.
I received a phone call from my primary care Doc telling me my Uric Acid level is sky high. Its supposed to be 100< and I'm 528. So they want me eat vegan (no meat no fish no dairy) for the next 6 weeks until my next blood work. I decided to look up foods high in Vit D. and guess what I found. Meat and Fish, eggs, tofu, mushrooms. I didn't eat vegan today, I had 1 brat with my sm.yam. Today's lunch will be vegetables and fruit, and dinner a bit of the same with a meatless cabbage stew. I'm very happy with my weight loss in 1 month but I know the first 15 was probably water retention. I need to work harder, walk more, and consume foods that help me. Mini goal for me is 6000 steps today.

so...risk gout to avoid the #1 of Vit D.....the sun.
going vegan isn't just eating salads. You can easily vegan up most of your meals, I can help!
Not only does the consumption of dairy and meats contribute to your high uric acid, but also depleting your body of calcium. Check out some resources like jlgoesvegan or compassionatevegan.com for some recipe ideas. If only just ditch the meat/dairy and suppliment with salad you'll be introducing other possible issues.
You need grains, beans, dark leafy greens, peppers, mushrooms, etc....not only will going vegan (the right way -- it is possible to be a junk food vegan and still pack on the weight with processed carbs and tons of french fries) you should drop loads of weight and feel more energetic!!!! #BOOM

Sun is an option if you live in a place where you get enough of it. I live in Finland, so I would get enough of it (for the purpose of getting of sufficient dose of vitamin D) 3-4 months of the year at most. I therefore eat 2 x 10 µg of D3 everyday as tablets everyday, and get another 10 µg from fish oil. These are about the only supplements I take. They are cheap and their efficacy is proven.

Your information is helpful. For my breakfast I'm having 1/2 cup of Quinoa and Hot chunky salsa. I've been looking up vegan recipes as well. I love my vegetables and I saw an interesting recipe for Cabbage and Tomato soup. One of my favorite ways to eat my veggies is to grill them so I know I need to get an indoor grill for winter coming up.
Thanks again for your information.
