Hi all. I lost 36 lbs, but still have almost 45 to lose. I keep a calorie deficit of 1,000 calories and walk at least 2 or 3 miles almost daily on the treadmill.
I've been reading through the discussions in an effort to get some insight and ideas for weight loss and it has been very helpful. I noticed, though, that some people are diligent about delaying breakfast for hours in an effort to fast for 10+ hours...while others are adament about having breakfast soon after waking in the morning in order to get their body going.
Can you please give me some insight no this and let me know what works for you? Thank you!

I delay breakfast. I wake up at around 5:30am every day and try not to eat until 10am. I have coffee throughout the morning. Then around 10am I have my first little meal, then lunch around noon, snack around 2pm. Dinner around 5:30pm or 6pm.
I'm just not a breakfast person. However, if I wake up starving, I will eat and put something in my stomach. I like to eat intuitively and if my stomach is really growling, I'll eat something and drink a lot of water.

Welcome to the Community forums @krick, and congratulations for the 36 lbs lost!
I've tried intermittent fasting for a while with good results, but I don't do this permanently, so I've only delayed breakfast when I want to lose some extra weight and then I go back to my regular schedule. I lost 30 pounds a couple of years ago and I've been able to maintain my weight in this way + doing some moderate exercise.
I think it depends on the approach that you take. If I exercise in the morning and don't have breakfast, I feel dizzy and not very good overall, but if I'm only following a food plan without exercising, then I think waiting some time in the morning could be useful.
I'd be great to read other comments from users in the Community!

For me, realising that I do not have to practically force- feed myself breakfast first thing after getting up, even before I am property awake, was a big revelation. Apparently childhood indoctrination works almost top well, it took me literally 50 years to shed this habit. Now I am quite happy postponing breakfast for an hour or so, doing some exercise first, and only eating when my body feels ready. This also means that I am enjoying breakfast, possibly first time in my life on a regular basis. However, everyone is different, my husband regularly wakes up hungry, unlike me.

Maybe you could DUCKDUCKGO the question " Is any diet method more effective than another?" or something like that. I can't remember who did it but I read that all that matters is restricting calories. So what ever works or is easier for you to help restrict total calories is probably all you should consider.
