Water for wieght loss?

I was wondering if drinking an healthy amount of water a day can actually help lose weight? Along with the general eating right, enough exercise etc. But how does water actaully fit into the whole picture. I know I havent been not drinking enough water because I dont like the taste. I like to buy the no (or as low as possible) calorie flovored juice packs. Any ideas in how to answer my questions.

Hey there @Paradise555! Personally I think that one of the biggest changes that needs to happen in a weightloss journey is increase your water intake.

I know that drinking plain water can be a bit boring at times, but it is vital to get your 2lt of water daily, to keep proper hydration and let your body recover after a workout. Sports drinks are usually loaded with sugar drinking them as little as possible is better.

Another option that I've tried is using some Dasani drops on your regular bottle and then slowly recede on the amount you are putting into them.

If you feel like drinking water something that you are forgetting (despite the changes) you can try this method to increase your intake:

Last but not least, water infussions can help spice up your water and drink it more often. I usually put lemon, orange, berries, mint, pineapple or watermelon on my water and they add plenty of flavor Cat Happy

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions Smiley LOL

I have three recommendations that really helped me increase my water intake:

  • using a water bottle (not only for measuring but I find it easier to drink water from a water bottle vs a glass)
  • using an app for reminding you to drink water (I'm using WaterMinder on iPhone, which reminds me throughout the day)
  • drinking one or two glasses of water before your meals

Water is essential to the function if every cell in your body. When you don't drink enough water your cells hold on to what it can and try to function to best it can. Your blood needs the water to help it pump without getting sluggish. Think about gunky oil for your car. Thats no good. I know that my mails get real brittle and my skin looks wrinkly when I don't drink water. I agree with the comment about sports drinks. When you drink more water your cells are happy because you aren't in dehydration mode and then it will release all of that water to take in what is fresh. It also helps with your breathing and lungs and brain function. Its necessary. I read that you should drink half your weight in ounces and it can be adjusted based on how active you are. Surprsingly thought, too much water can be toxic to the system as well. I typed all this to say that it is needed. I hated drinking water too and I tried to have a few sips, then a cup with a meal, then a whole bottle that I can take and now I can do about 120 ozs a day. I can do more. Finally, you can get water from the fruits and veggies you eat so don't discount those!!. Happy water intake!

I just started with my Fitbit Surge and the Aria scale two weeks ago. Yesterday was the start of week three. I hired a personal trainer at the same time; therefore, it was fitbit, exercise plan with professional trainer, AND meal plan by the professional trainer. He told me that I needed to drink 1/2 of my body weight in ounces and on days that he and I exercise, I need an additionl 20 ounces. Even though I can't speak on the "science" of it, it is essential. In the last 16 days I have drank ONLY water... drinking only water makes you want it more. I would recommend going cold turkey to help you be able to drink it. It helped me! Good Luck!

All I gotta say is HYDRATION!! Water is so important when working out because running can dehydrate you and cause water weight .. drinking extra water can help with that for those looking at the number on the scale. Also, when doing lifting or hardcore bike riding, even a long bike ride, your body holds on to water, sometimes up to 2-3 days to help repair muscles. So increasing water intake will help with the repairing as well as the dehydration. Water is just, great, and well boring... but you can spice it up by doing water detox drinks.. Adding fruits, lemons, or herbs to your water overnight. I think someone posted something about that. Not only does it taste great but it can help with weight loss and to rehydrate. Pinterest has a lot of different recipes.

I drink Deer Park water and get used to it. 8-12 liters a day.

Buy 2 mega cases of 1 liter bottles. 33.8 fl oz.

Plus my supplements require 8-10 glasses of water per dosage. So that's 20 glasses of water.

  • 1 liter gym
  • 2 liters AM work hours
  • Refill with tap water those 2 liters for PM work hours
  • 1 liter home workout session
  • 2 liters playing either xbox kinect or pc games
  • Throw away all the diet coke in the house so nothing but water is in there.
